it's a sad one. basically her dad rapes her, and her mom basically just let him because otherwise he would leave the mom. then he walks out anyway, and comes back for random visits where he does it some more. and her mom is also abusive, both physically and emotionally. and probably a big reason why she's fat (in the story at least) is because her mom makes her cook dinner, and if it isn't done exactly how she wants, she forces her to eat ALL of it, even when she protests that she's not hungry. then later in the movie the mom basically blames her for the father leaving her because he wasn't attracted to her anymore. and there's a part where i'm not absolutely sure, but i'm pretty sure, that the mom makes the girl do stuff to, let's just say "please" her. because she thinks that since Precious made the father leave her, someone had to do it. oh yeah, also the dad's gotten the girl pregnant at least twice.
however there is some happiness in the movie because she starts going to this school that's made for girls in trouble like her, and she finda a real family there.

it's a really messed up situation, and it's sad that it's based on actual stories.

You can express that you're a girl, as long as it's part of a relevant story or idea that's interesting. Like, not exploiting your gender for thumbs but indirectly implying it, for example, when telling the tale of the weirdest way you've ever been hit on.

Which would mean that it is neccesary for what you are saying.

I.e. you don't need to say "AS A GIRL, I can TOTALLY agree with this! I just walk around naked!"
