I've actually thought about becoming a police officer, or working with them. I've been a certified gunsmith for a year now, but since I'm not 21 I can't get an FFL which really sucks.

"In due time". There's no time like the present.

So tell me how killing a child wearing the uniform shown above (comment 146) is justified while killing a child of the same age wielding a gun but not wearing said uniform isn't justified.

At 12 years old, you do show some common sense. Common sense states that you shouldn't point a gun at someone else, or you'll get in trouble (or if the other person has a gun, you could get shot).

That cop could've gone on to kill many more ruthless and dangerous children in that school with absolutely no means of ensuring weapons aren't present on the playground.

Go through a police academy, and learn a few things. Actually, go on and try to become a police officer. You're so worried about how "bad" they are; why don't you try to change that? I mean, you'll probably die really quick since you'll assume all guns are fake..

That isn't me yet, sadly..

Well, I've kinda done a lot of things.. I'm a very active member of my local FD, and am a certified EMS provider.. I'm also going through fire school right now, so by May I'll be a fully-certified firefighter, and after that I'm going to get in to the next available EMT course. I became a security guard, and am fully pursuing my goal of becoming a Police Officer. Graduated high school, and living life one day at a time, yanno?

Seems like you've been around.

As for myself.. quite a few things happened. Started driving school, started internship, got fired because I'm too impatient and unskilled for electrician as well as lacking interest, developed a strong bond with a friend, his family and especially the kids, which turned me into a great caretaker over time, going to become a kindergardner some day because of that, now looking for an apprenticeship either as salesman or as cook.

All in all, life is good. I'm still fat and drink too much, though.

I know, I just stopped arguing. We can't get through his thick head, and he isn't going to accept any form of reason. Thank you for helping, and I think the sheer amount of people that understand that the officer did what he had to is good enough.
User avatar #1174 to #1173 - KakashiHatake (11/24/2014) [-]
I've actually thought about becoming a police officer, or working with them. I've been a certified gunsmith for a year now, but since I'm not 21 I can't get an FFL which really sucks.
User avatar #1175 to #1174 - dammriver (11/24/2014) [-]
Right now I'm trying to get into security, since it will really help my resume. Right now I'm more on the fire/EMS side of things, but I have wanted to be a police officer since I was like 4 or 5 years old.
User avatar #1176 to #1175 - KakashiHatake (11/24/2014) [-]
Well good luck to you, I'm still unsure what I want to do, at least you have a goal.
User avatar #1177 to #1176 - dammriver (11/24/2014) [-]
I do have a goal, but I'm still not too sure how I want to reach it..

But yeah, thanks!

Good luck to you in whatever field you decide to pursue.
User avatar #1154 - wfddfw (04/17/2014) [-]
where in CT are you from brother?
User avatar #1155 to #1154 - dammriver (04/17/2014) [-]
Extreme northeast area, about 20 minutes from the Mass border, and 10 minutes from the Rhode Island border. You?
User avatar #1156 to #1155 - wfddfw (04/18/2014) [-]
Litchfield County. In the Torrington area
User avatar #1157 to #1156 - dammriver (04/18/2014) [-]
I'm Windham County lol..

Are you paid or volunteer?
User avatar #1158 to #1157 - wfddfw (04/18/2014) [-]
Volunteer. Looking to move out of CT and becoming paid
User avatar #1159 to #1158 - dammriver (04/18/2014) [-]
More southern parts and cities like Hartford have paid, unless you just want to get out..

If I were to leave CT, I'd probably try to go LAPD or LAFD..
User avatar #1160 to #1159 - wfddfw (04/18/2014) [-]
Im thinking of leaving completely.
wanna go somewhere south, like the Carolinas
User avatar #1161 to #1160 - dammriver (04/18/2014) [-]
Myrtle beach is a nice area. A lot of action due to tourists, as well.

I'm looking at becoming a state trooper in a few years, so I'll probably be in CT for the majority of my life..
User avatar #1162 to #1161 - wfddfw (04/18/2014) [-]
a good friend of mine is trying to become a state trooper. props to you and him. they have to deal with a lot of ****
User avatar #1163 to #1162 - dammriver (04/18/2014) [-]
That's actually one of the reasons that I joined the fire department (I'm volunteer as well). I wanted to know what I'd be seeing, and what I would be dealing with.. Kinda also wanted to make sure that I could handle all of the blood and gore (though I was pretty sure that I could). After I joined, I fell in love with it.
User avatar #1164 to #1163 - wfddfw (04/18/2014) [-]
that's exactly what happened with me.
I've seen so much **** that I'm used to it. First dead guy was a week after I turned 15, because i was involved with the junior firefighter program on my department
User avatar #1165 to #1164 - dammriver (04/18/2014) [-]
I'm still involved with the junior firefighter program, actually.. I joined fairly recently, and I'm 17.. Been to a lot of overdoses, some to people that I knew.

I think that my biggest problem is going to be children.
User avatar #1166 to #1165 - wfddfw (04/18/2014) [-]
I'm 17 as well, to be honest.

My biggest problem is children. I refuse to go to calls involving kids and pedis. We had a pedi CODE a while back and I just couldn't bring myself to go.

I've had my fair share of CODEs and doing CPR already, but it's just something about calls with kids that I can't handle

User avatar #1167 to #1166 - dammriver (04/18/2014) [-]
Yeah, that's the same thing I hear with a lot of people.

But, on the brighter parts of it, the brotherhood is amazing, the bonds between us and t=police officers is awesome, and the fact that we are a community that does everything from have a cookout at somebody's house to fighting a fire in a matter of minutes is also awesome.. It's one big family, and I really enjoy it.
User avatar #1168 to #1167 - wfddfw (04/18/2014) [-]
that's what I love about it too.

I've been involved with it for a little over 3 years already and i gotta say, I'm glad I did it. I made so many awesome friends with it. and they've taught me so much. its great
User avatar #1169 to #1168 - dammriver (04/18/2014) [-]
I only joined abut six months ago, and I've met a lot of awesome people as well. Plus, it's an exciting conversation starter. Wearing a sweatshirt that says what department you're from, and all of the other firefighters start to talk to you.
User avatar #1170 to #1169 - wfddfw (04/18/2014) [-]
very true. That's what I love the most. the comradery. meeting guys from other departments and swapping stories is always a ton of fun
User avatar #1171 to #1170 - dammriver (04/18/2014) [-]
Yeah, it is. From all over the country, or even just the next town over.

User avatar #1147 to #1146 - dammriver (03/21/2014) [-]
Haunter?

Yeah, it's been a while..

How are you?
User avatar #1148 to #1147 - greedtheavaricious ONLINE (03/22/2014) [-]
It's been going okay here. I'm getting a job, get my drivers license paid and it's all around going fine, though the downside is I have to leave everything behind when I have to move in with my dad.

How are you?
User avatar #1149 to #1148 - dammriver (03/23/2014) [-]
Well that's kinda good.. Why do you have to move?

And I'm alright. Joined my local fire department as a volunteer, and I should have my Emergency Medical Responder certification by the end of June. Helping people out around my school and stuff.. It's good.
User avatar #1150 to #1149 - greedtheavaricious ONLINE (03/23/2014) [-]
Ahh, didn't see that until now, sorry.

You're going to be a firefighter, eh? You're doing gods work, man.

Helping people out is always a good feeling, you bring a smile to their faces and that's always awesome.
User avatar #1151 to #1150 - dammriver (03/23/2014) [-]
Yeah, I love doing it. Helping people is definitely something that I'm happy to do..

So what's up with you? Why are you moving and everything?
User avatar #1152 to #1151 - greedtheavaricious ONLINE (03/24/2014) [-]
God, I should really stop replying so slowly.

Well, where to start... job offer from dad at his company. Well, not his, but he's a high ranked animal there, so I'll be learning under his wings. He's living a couple hours away from here, means I'll have to move. Electrician! Something I've wanted to do since I was a toddler. Obviously wanted it because my dad does it, and sons usually try to become like their dads, eh?^^ Well I still want to, this time out of own reasons though. Learning how to install, reapir and maintain electric stuff, for example.. **** I barely know anything about it, but hey, I'm going to learn.
User avatar #1153 to #1152 - dammriver (03/25/2014) [-]
Don't worry about replies lol

And that's awesome! I've been studying electrical for the past 3 and a half years.. I'm not really a fan, but yanno..

User avatar #1119 to #1118 - haunterbrony (05/05/2013) [-]
Naaah, I need to sleep early. Not that tomorrow is anything, just getting used to more sleep. Which is also by far better for my metabolism, which I need.

Who do you miss?
User avatar #1120 to #1119 - dammriver (05/05/2013) [-]
Zephy, Shy, and a couple more... Those two are closer to "top" of my list right now, though...
User avatar #1121 to #1120 - haunterbrony (05/05/2013) [-]
Zeph is going through a hard time right now. And what happened with Shy... I don't know what's with him :I
User avatar #1122 to #1121 - dammriver (05/05/2013) [-]
I know about Zeph, thanks to Delta, but Shy... I just wish I could give him a hug :/

I hope that he either didn't go through, or something failed... I really do... I don't know where he's from, though... I don't know much :/
User avatar #1123 to #1122 - haunterbrony (05/05/2013) [-]
Let's just say I hope he's still breathing. One time the only reason he didn't do it is because the lack o a rope. I dearly hope he didn't find one.
User avatar #1124 to #1123 - dammriver (05/05/2013) [-]
Did he ever say why he wanted to?
User avatar #1125 to #1124 - haunterbrony (05/05/2013) [-]
He is constantly depressed. I tried several times to get to him but.. well, he never really opened. Doesn't mean I won't try it again when he returns from wherever he is.
User avatar #1126 to #1125 - dammriver (05/05/2013) [-]
I'm going to try to take a passionate/calm and caring approach at first, then, if that doesn't work, I'm going to try to be more 'assertive'... Damn my mind and its desire to help everything with everything. I guess it's a good thing, though, because it makes me stand out from the average crowd...

Anyway, I hope he comes back...

News? What news? Need to talk it out?
User avatar #1112 to #1111 - dammriver (04/29/2013) [-]
Don't really need to talk it out, but I found out that someone that's in my shop (a 'friend', but not close) at school was involved in a serious motorcycle accident... They don't know if he's going to make it...
#1113 to #1112 - haunterbrony (04/29/2013) [-]
That's pretty harsh... I'd say go and visit him.

How's life treating you otherwise? Going halfway okay?

not sure since only thing they would be doing is a round trip to here......my friend in Cali wont mind having me over there but my friends in Vegas may get a little irritated at how long it may take for me to actually start paying them rent....only problem I have is getting there and such......not sure how anyone can help me with this and not entirely sure how to get their own my own.
User avatar #1095 to #1094 - dammriver (04/15/2013) [-]

Somewhat a waiting game, now...
What else is bothering you?

Ponyville kind if having a lot of drama lately.....and stuff.

Mostly my worries are in transportation seeing as how I have no way to cover that cost on my own.

User avatar #1064 to #1043 - dammriver (04/03/2013) [-]
Just as an update, my aunt had a severe heart attack last night... We didn't find out today, but she apparently died on our floor, and came back in the ambulance...

Right now, she is being transferred to another hospital that specializes with the heart... Before they left, though, they couldn't stabilize her heart rate... I don't know if she's going to be ok, but I hope so...
#1065 to #1064 - haunterbrony (04/03/2013) [-]
I'm certain it will be fine. And if not... let's not think about the worst possible outcome for now. Are you feeling better?
User avatar #1066 to #1065 - dammriver (04/03/2013) [-]
Slightly. I'm making headway in the 'peer counseling' thing that I've set up. We had the main 'starter' meeting today, and now we're waiting on getting members and setting everything up...
#1067 to #1066 - haunterbrony (04/03/2013) [-]
Now that is at the very least something. I wish you good luck with that, and hope you and your aunt will be well.
User avatar #1068 to #1067 - dammriver (04/03/2013) [-]
Thanks, and me too...

How are you?
User avatar #1069 to #1068 - haunterbrony (04/03/2013) [-]
I'm doing fine. Only problem is, I can't be arsed to study, since I have neither motivation, nor pressure due to few time. Funny enough it is in less than two weeks, so I should feel pressure.
User avatar #1070 to #1069 - dammriver (04/03/2013) [-]
I know what you mean... That feeling of "Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow?"
User avatar #1071 to #1070 - haunterbrony (04/03/2013) [-]

User avatar #1045 to #1044 - haunterbrony (04/01/2013) [-]
Huh... maybe you should just take the day off tomorrow, which of course means fake being sick. Please consider this if you feel too bad to go to school.
User avatar #1046 to #1045 - dammriver (04/01/2013) [-]
If I feel too bad, then yeah... If not, I might just head over to the guidance office some time tomorrow...
User avatar #1047 to #1046 - haunterbrony (04/01/2013) [-]
I understand how you must feel right now. If you feel like school will help due to distraction, then go. If you're like me and can't focus on anything in such a situation, it would probably be better for you to just stay at home, and try to relax a little.
User avatar #1048 to #1047 - dammriver (04/01/2013) [-]
Yeah, I'll see how I feel tomorrow... I have some good teachers, so I think that they'll understand... I'm just hoping that my father follows through and goes to a rehab facility tomorrow.
User avatar #1049 to #1048 - haunterbrony (04/01/2013) [-]

She went into very severe respiratory distress, and her lips were purple before the first guys even got here. There was a point when she stopped breathing altogether, but she'll [hopefully] be ok... She was doing better once they got her in the ambulance, but she still wasn't too good...

And I say again, if there is something you don't actually need and could neglect it, in order to focus on more important things, then I highly suggest doing it. As for now, I need sleep. Good night, and you should go to sleep, too.. since it is something after 10 PM at your place, I guess.

That is a good thing. Still, go and hug her! :3

Not much going on here. Just at a friend right now and watching some random show. Poor ****** is emotionally devastated watching this. Though I'm pretty sure he's just playing.^^
