As yes, the mystical can opener. The ancient device left from our ancestors, even now, our scientists cant figure out how it works or how they engineered such a magical device.

its from world of warcraft
the two factions, the Horde and the Alliance are unable to speak to each other, as anything said to the other faction would be translated into seemingly incoherent guttural words.
But if you would type 'kek' to the other faction it would be translated to 'lol'. and as such kek as become a synonym for lol.

The plot with the Chinese and the ending were awful and the show went from dark and thoughtful to a generic anime. I know it was more faithful to the manga and I might just be biased from watching FMA first, but damn.
User avatar #88 - ninjaspartan (09/05/2014) [-]
So basically you preferred the filler drenched original over the highly revered original manga, in other words?
#127 - IamPinhead (09/05/2014) [-]
I never read the manga, so I don't know. FMA was one of the first animes I ever watched to the end and I liked the departure from traditional fare (filler or no). That probably makes me biased and I can accept that, but I can't accept the 'friendship is alchemy' ending and the subplot with the Chinese girl and her panda.
User avatar #135 - ninjaspartan (09/06/2014) [-]
The Chinese characters I'll chalk down to opinion, but I hate to say it, bud, you and I did not watch the same FMA Brotherhood.
#136 - IamPinhead (09/07/2014) [-]
Do you remember Ed giving up his alchemy because he made friends? That's the ending I mean. Again, I'm biased in favor of the original FMA because it was one of the first animes I watched all the way through. That might be why I view Brotherhood the way I do, but that's what I took from the ending. I will give Brotherhood that it wasn't soul crushing like the original.
User avatar #137 - ninjaspartan (09/07/2014) [-]
There was nothing soul crushing about the original at all. The gate of truth was presented as a dimensional gate as a medium for flip-flopping energy to explain the law of equivalent exchange. In the original and all Ed did was transfer his life, aka. "sacrifice," it, so that Al could live in the alchemy world and he would live in the non-alchemy world. One movie later and they were both living in the non-alchemy world. One movie after that and they both have their alchemy and their bodies in the alchemy world again living happily ever after. Ed still had friends there too. So what in Brotherhood he made sacrificing his alchemy okay because he had friends? How else is it supposed to be okay? Last I checked he was sacrificing it for his brother. There's nothing soul crushing about that, either, but it wasn't supposed to be since it was an equivalent exchange in Ed's favor since he saw it as a small sacrifice to make for his brother. Having friends was just the cherry on top, and paying attention to that and dismissing the value of such a great ending over the fact that Ed was still making a sacrifice and a very SMART one is... just not smart at all. Sorry it wasn't dark and brooding like you like things, but bleak and gloomy is not a quintessential ingredient to a good, let alone mature and well thought out ending.

I watched FMA and then Brotherhood and I thoroughly enjoyed both tellings.

You gotta admit that Mustang is a scary motherfucker in Brotherhood though.
