Then I understand what you mean.

Personally I wouldn't go with a vegetarian, because I want someone who could get totally along with me and always be comfortable. Not someone so different that both of us have to adapt so much that we're uncomfortable.
User avatar #23 - certainly (09/08/2013) [-]
I'm vegetarian, however I've dated various meat eaters and had no problem with it, it's my choice not theirs and I don't plan to wave it around in anyones face just as I expect no one to do it to me. If they decide to be a vegetarian, great! If they don't, still great! I'm not with someone to share salads and dance around with happy cows.

Those who are uncomfortable being with meat eaters are usually quite self righteous.
User avatar #64 - sanguinesolitude (09/08/2013) [-]
Living with a vegetarian would be difficult. It means all meals need to be either separate, or I have to eat vegetarian. I have nothing against vegetarians, I just think it would be a point of contention, especially if it was a judgemental one. The kind who have a little comment ever time you eat meat, or just give you a look. its like "dont judge me, you are the one breaking hundreds of thousands of years of evolutionary normalcy."
User avatar #79 - derpismaherpis (09/08/2013) [-]
It's not that hard separating it as you think to be honest. But I agree, the judgemental ones who claim meaters to be close-minded are just as bad as the ones who hate vegetarians without reason. I'm vegetarian and I've met other veggies who made me facepalm.
User avatar #86 - sanguinesolitude (09/08/2013) [-]
Maybe my problem is that i love cooking, and most of the things i like to make are very meatcentric. If i had feelings for a person who happened to be vegetarian it wouldnt put me off, but it might be a slight turnoff before meating (giggle) the person for the first time. like a coworkers is like "you should totally go out with my friend, she is vegetarian" first thought would be like... oh boy nothing like being lectured on why i am evil on a first date. Most vegetarians are pleasant enough though. I have lived with a couple. Such boring tasteless meals, which reflects more on their cooking than on the lack of meat.
User avatar #123 - derpismaherpis (09/08/2013) [-]
Yeah it's probably the cooking; my sister creates great combinations of meals, but it's also a matter of taste I guess. I'm still wondering how one can be a raw vegan...
User avatar #137 - sanguinesolitude (09/08/2013) [-]
raw foods dont even make sense. I mean we evolved with fire, which is why we dont have a rumen for digesting cellulose. In fact we cannot digest cellulose, so the nutrients within plant cells are inaccessible to us unless we cook them to break the cell membrances. Raw foods and vegan lifestyles are a mark of a high level of income and overly priviledged life, whereby not having to deal with actual problems they create new meaningless ones to devote their time

Vegetarianism i can understand. It is lower impact on the environment and easy to do in a healthy way. And if you learn to cook indian food you will have tons of very tasty dishes to choose from.

Most vegans I have met are both militantly vegan and paranoid to the point of ridiculousness. Reading packets of salt and pepper to make sure they avoid anything even meat related. I mean i guess i can understand not wanting to hurt animals, even if it is a purely emotional argument that ignores the nature and our evolutionary history. But to spend so much of your time making sure there wasnt a smidge of whey protein in your granola just seems a waste of everyone's time.

What i will say is that I do seek to minimize the suffering of animals, buying grass fed beef when possible and cage free chicken and eggs. I mean those animals only even exist in their current forms because they were bred as food, so everyone not eating them renders them obsolete. And unless they get kept as pets or zoos they will go extinct.

I would be gentle of her feelings though.

1. It would be very hard to enjoy any family dinner if it has to be made all vegetarian.
2. Vegetarianism because "it's murder" is stupid
3. Vegetarianism because "I just don't like meat" is a ridiculously broad portion of food to have distaste for

A Danish raggae band called Von Dü made a song called "Vegetarian" which is about a date with a vegetarian girl. The chorus is literally just "We are Von Dü, and we don't like you" being sung over and over.

Oh and one verse goes "The steak I serve, she doesn't like. Well, I could still wish she had bulimia."

I guess i wasn't detailed enough.

This guy is so sheltered and so judgmental, that he wouldn't talk to me for 3 days after i threw away a 5x7 inch American flag because it was stuffed under a cash-register for 6 years. He touted the fact that he was Mormon and lied about half his life to make himself look better. He was the most stuck up and snarky person i have ever worked with. I don't care how elitist the vegetarian woman was, i promise you that this guy was far worse.

It was for the best that he left her in my opinion, but his reasoning was just plain mean and i am fairly sure that it wasn't a very happy breakup on her end.

That is all i have to say about it.

mcknyte, I need some help.

There is this 93 del sol for sale that i am going to go and check out tomorrow, 111,000 miles, decent shape, and manual trans. There is also this miata for sale 400 miles away in Seattle that's a little cheaper, but I can't see it until friday.

Now... what the hell should i do? I'm going to be questioned about buying the honda tommorow and I am not sure I like it as much what with the front wheel drive. i mean, the honda even has snow tires.

the question is really, is the del sol a good substitute for the mx5?

Dear Economic,

Only listening to those who agree with you is not helping your image among those of us closer to the left side of the political spectrum (many conservatives are nowhere near as drastic as you are, so added up, that is a pretty big majority). I do hope that you will one day try to see things from other perspectives instead of simply blocking people at the first sign of disagreement.

If you do end up reading this, please do take it to heart. I don't want to hate you, I for one like a good and friendly debate, but the way you insult and stereotype people is making that task pretty hard.

Thanks for your time,

P.S. You have actually kick-started my interest in European politics, so thank you for that too.
