No, i will not. I have stated everything i need to about that.

What I will say though is this: North Korea is a country surrounded literally on every side by enemies. The South is at war with them, China is slowly backing away, America is constantly breathing down their necks and the world generally hates it. North Korea is one step away from disintegration and the Government is trying to stop that. If something happenes to the North Korean government things won't get better, it'll get worse.

North Korea has no economy. ALL food is provided by the state. All housing, schooling and work is provided by the state. If they fall, do you think the South would want to deal with that? The Americans? No, they wouldn't. North Koreas people would be worse off. So its literally the lesser of two evils. The North Korean Government it horrific, but its the best they have.

Something IS wrong, I 100% agree. But it is NOT our right to go in and do something about it. For a start, we live THOUSANDS of miles away and have never visited the place. We have no right to meddle in their country.

Its wrong, i agree, but we CAN'T just stop governments we simply don't like, its not something that a civilised nation should do.

I don't know, maybe its been my culture. Here in the UK we think differently to you Americans. We don't just instantly go to invasion mode when something we don't like pops up. We respect other countries rights to exist and we know its not our place to interfere. We did used to colonise (I know you're going to bring that up so im preemptively retorting to that) but we moved past that hundreds of years ago.

So let the Koreans be, we have no right to interfere in a nation that just wants to be left alone.
#253 - anonymous (04/12/2014) [-]
It honestly sounds like you just lack empathy and take for granted the life you have. Imagine you were a prisoner in North Korea or perhaps one of the citizens who made a simple mistake and was punished for it. Would you be glad that other countries stood by and watched this happen because it's "not their place to interfere"?

Let's try a different scale. Say you were being abused by your parent and all of your neighbors and friends knew it, but they said nothing and didn't try to help. They thought it was none of their business because they don't live with you and they don't want to interfere. Would you be happy that they were minding their own business? Would you be happy that they allowing your parent to abuse you?
#206 - jacktheripperftw (04/12/2014) [-]
I totally agree to you.
America is a selfish country, you gotta admit that shit.
I mean, look at their history.
They went out of their country for so called 'new life', turned hostile to natives, killed, stole, and got rid of them in their own territory. And now they just live in the edge of country.
Oh, yeah! and what were they doing when the World war 2 happened?
Sitting around on their butts gobbling bunch of war money, until they got directly involved on 1941. I bet they wound't have participated in war if they didn't got involved. Maybe even cooperate with Nazis for sake of their profit.
And what did they do when they needed cheaper oil?
Rather than negotiation, they turned in to much simpler, and violent way. Invasion, or so-called Iraqi 'freedom'.
Oh, yeah, do you think this was on past? The oil you are using right now?
Look at Russia right now trying to take over. What are 'Mrica doing? Shit! Exactly! To Ukraine, this is an act of robbery! It's just like a neighbor coming directly in to your house, kidnap your children, steal your money, and just walk away. All happening with your eyes wide open. And so called 'prime peace keeper' is not doing shit. Who knows? They are maybe expecting another reason to start a fucking war! Not cold war, real fucking war.
There is much more than that, some kept away from public, or some revealed, such as to Snowden. Their country even lies to them. Where is your freedom now?

User avatar #76 - amata (04/11/2014) [-]
I find it interesting how you think that you can just define people by their nationality, but whatever. The thing is, North Korean government restricts the rights of its citizens to a ridiculous level. I mean fuck, you should never be locked up or killed just for voicing your dislike of how things are run. As for having no right to meddle, that's just ridiculous. If somebody you know is being abused by their parents, would you argue that we should just leave them be? We don't have to meddle, but the price of not meddling would be knowing that people are suffering and that we could do something about it but aren't.

All of these points aside, the short story is that they pose a potential threat and we will act should that threat ever seem close to becoming reality. You can play devil's advocate all you like, but good luck trying to convince us not to defend ourselves.
User avatar #84 - aabbccddeeffgghhii (04/11/2014) [-]
Defending yourself? DEFENDING YOURSELF!

North Koreas army is the equivilent of the fucking 1980s at best, that was the last time they got any new equipment.

Their air force is pitiful so how could they even hope to get to America or any western country!? Hell, they'd have issues to getting to Japan!

AND I AGREE THAT THE CONDITIONS IN N.KOREA IS BAD. WHY IS NO ONE CHOOSING TO READ THOSE PARTS OF MY COMMENTS?! All i'm stating is the ethics of invasion. America was "defending themselfs" from a middle eastern force which had no navy, no airforce and was equipped entierly with machine guns and rocketlaunchers that AMERICA gave them. Don't even start with "defending ourselfs." You Americans have a tendency to defend yourselfs against everyone with a fucking water pistol.

And foreign countries have no right to meddle in foreing affairs through invasions. The point of a demoracy is to talk shit out. Totalitarian societies invade, not democracies.

Oh, and I'm not playing Devils advocate i can promis you. If i played devils advocate i would be asking questions, not stating points.
User avatar #95 - cynicalpotatoe (04/11/2014) [-]
Then what would you do about those conditions which we both agree is terrible, just wait for the people to start an uprising? or just sit and watch as they go and treat everyone like trash, though maybe you are right maybe they might change through talking, and as hard as it maybe for you to believe i would like to avoid a conflict with just about any other country.
User avatar #97 - aabbccddeeffgghhii (04/11/2014) [-]

Nukes, monica, nukes. From what I understand of Best Korea, their Glorious Leader might just be crazy enough to use them...if his "scientists" can ever manage to create ones capable of blowing up anything further away than their silos. It's unlikely, I'll grant, but still within the realm of possibility. made that bold to ensure that you won't ignore it
Also, if you think that the conditions there are bad, please explain what you have against somebody-I don't care what flag they serve- going in to make things better. Like I said before, if you know people are being abused and could help them but don't, that makes you kind of a cunt.

Nukes --

North Korea have a nuke like I have a fucking space ship. They may be testing nukes, but we have no solid proof that he had them, and evidence proves that they don't. Last time America invaded on
suspicion_ of mass destruction they were completely fucking wrong.

You especially invade on ifs and buts.
User avatar #104 - amata (04/11/2014) [-]
I....god dammit, I even bolded the sentence I wanted you to focus on to make sure that you would read it because I had the feeling that you would otherwise ignore it, and you ignored it anyway. Listen, the point I was trying to make was that iff they are testing nukes, they could pose a threat, especially given their view on the western world, and that IN THE EVENT OF THAT UNLIKELY SCENARIO WE ABSOLUTELY WOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO INVADE
There. All caps, bolded, even underlined the key word. If you can't figure out my point from that, I don't know how to help you.

Now that that's been dealt with, let's move to the more important point. Yes, at the moment invading them would constitute "meddling" on our part. However, if the citizens of North Korea are living shitty lives, which you stated you believe to be the case, then it would be morally wrong for us to sit here and do nothing when we have the ability to help them. Here, I'll draw a parallel:

"You have a neighbor named Mr. Murphy. Mr. Murphy has two children. You know full well that Mr. Murphy regularly beats these children. Now, should you A) do nothing because it's Mr. Murphy's business what he does with his kids and not yours, or B)call the cops on Mr. Murphy because he's beating his kids?"

According to you, the correct choice is A. This is wrong, and completely idiotic unless you happen to be a sociopath. In this case, the only reason we have yet to call the cops on Mr. Murphy is because Mr. Murphy's other neighbor is a scary motherfucker who happens to be a close friend of his. However, as soon China finally gives up on North Korea, I hope to god that we immediately send troops over there. Not for oil, not for "muh freedoms", not because of patriotism, but because the citizens of North Korea are being treated like shit and that is not right.

#108 - aabbccddeeffgghhii (04/11/2014) [-]
I can whole heartedly say this and it is not a lie, i missed that sentence. I did not choose to igneore it, i genuinly didn't see it. Believe me or not, what ever you choose. I actually have to admit that i didn't read past the first sentence, and that was a bit of an idiot move. So, without reading your second response (again, genuinley haven't read it, im reverting to as if my first comment never happened) heres what my first should have been:

I don't care what the possibilities are. Unless you have 100% factual proof there are weapons of mass destruction in a country that is willing to use them you cannot invade. And I have mentioned in comment above why an invasion would be stupid. The government provides everythig from Food to housing and even clothing. If N.Korea falls, who would fill this gap? The Americans? The South? I doubt it, it would just be a burden on both. This is forgetting the literall millions of lives that would be lost. If N.Korea goes to war they are fighting to the last man, thats how much they love their country. Is it better they die fighting for their county or live in it?

Oh, and don't call me a cunt. What have i possibly done to deserve being called a cunt? Oh, thats right: wrong opinions.
User avatar #113 - amata (04/11/2014) [-]
All right, I can accept that you missed that sentence. The very nature of this debate ensures that tempers are gonna rise, so it's somewhat understandable that you'd miss it.
Like I said before, if and only if we are certain that they have functioning nuclear weapons and clear ill intent towards us, then we will invade. Not before. Believe it or not, we don't love the thought of people dying in battle any more than any other country.
I understand that war with North Korea would be bloody. However, I believe that once we eliminate their leader and central command structure, they will be shattered. Propaganda wants them to believe Kim Jong Un is essentially the infallible hero that keeps their country afloat, after all. We wipe that out, what exactly will they be fighting for?
Final point, the government provides them with food, housing, and clothing? Those things are basic necessities for survival. Hell, even we provide that for people who can't obtain it themselves, though we usually expect them to seek out a way to provide for themselves eventually. Also, their government demands in return their complete devotion and pays them shit wages, as the economy is owned completely by the government. You know the average official salary in North Korea as of 2011? $2 a month. That's a little over 1 pound or 1.4 euros.

Their government gives North Koreans a shitty life and makes them happy about it only by pretending that the rest of the world has it much worse. They say stuff along the lines of "You would be living on the streets and eating your own dung if you lived in another country, but thanks to the Glorious Leader you are privileged enough to live in a run down shack and suffer from mild malnutrition." Another interesting fact, we actually ship food over to them, so their government gets a bit of relief when it comes to "providing them with food" That. Isn't. Okay. Hence why somebody, anybody, needs to do something about it.
User avatar #118 - aabbccddeeffgghhii (04/11/2014) [-]
It isn't my temper flairing that was the issue, im quite calm actually. Its the fact that when the main bulk of this thread was being made (basically when you sent your message) i was getting a message pretty much a minute for about half hour straight. I was skiming for main points and replying as I went (especially when a reply would take 3-5 minutes a piece i was just streamlining). But anyway, moving on the the meat of the content here:

I agree that something needs to be done, but invasion isn't the right answer. Honestly, if invasion was the answer there would be multiple a year. The right answer is diplomatic. Believe it or not Kim Jong Ill was really pushing for a diplomatic option. American leaders flew to North Korea and sat with him and talked to him. He was polite, charming and really a nice guy (how real that was though is totally questionably. It was more than likely a face but the female diplomat was very taken aback by him. Hell, she even seemed to like him, her most chilling quote was "He is most definatly not crazy) and he was offering incredibly fair offers. He agreed to completely stop his nuclear missle program for some American help (i cant remember what exactly but it was very weighted in Americas favour) but the Bush administration did not go for it and no one knows why! Its true, you could trust Kim Jong Ill as far as you could throw him but it was a fantastic step in a good direction and America threw it back in his face. Now Denis Rodman is the face of western diplomacy. Oh joy.

And, honestly, eliminating Un won't do much. The way N.Korea is structured is that the Higher ups are the only ones not brainwashed. If Un is killed someone else will step in and take his place. Worse still, multiple step in and a full blown civil war erupts.

The situation in N.Korea is so delicate that war is not the answer. We need to sit down and talk to Un and try and make relations better. A flat out war wont benefit anyone.
User avatar #135 - amata (04/11/2014) [-]
I cannot disagree with the concept of trying to make relations better. If Un can sit down and talk rationally, if we can move their country in the right direction without bloodshed...I still hate the thought of entire families languishing in prison because they dared to displease one man, but yes, diplomacy would be better. I don't know how much sense we can talk into the kind of person who would uphold a government like that of North Korea, but it can't hurt to try. That I can accept.

How do you know YOU are not brainwashed by something else?
How do you know that it's other nations that try to pack things up in a negative way?

User avatar #244 - wooyoungkim (04/12/2014) [-]
While I agree that these people are literally in a shit hole, let me correct you on few facts.
Brainwashing is not true anymore. Sure it used to be until Berlin wall went down and another blow to the North Korean propaganda team was the fall of the Soviet Union. As they entered into the 90s North Korea's economy went downhill and the famine caused numerous to starve to death. Also due to information flow into North Korea, North Koreans aren't really brainwashed anymore. They are just pretty much trapped in their own country.

And when Snowden revealed what he found, for the sake of Freedom, what did US do? They banned him from his home nation for it. That's what happened.
It's actually the same on every country. Just because we can't see it doesn't mean it's not there. Think about it people, why do you have to stay narrow minded? It's like a frog in a well. Look at bigger picture.
#225 - anonymous (04/12/2014) [-]
Snowden and North Korea are not comparable in anyway. I've been reading your comments, and all I can say is that you're a total jack wagon. The world mostly agrees on it's views against North Korea, and even their closes allies are starting to distance themselves. What does that tell you? Shut up and die in a hole, do the human race a favor.
User avatar #265 - jacktheripperftw (04/12/2014) [-]
'World mostly agrees on it's views'... wow, that's the most stupid comment I've ever seen in a while in a multiple sense. Could you please think before writing? Or at least double check your grammar?
And "their allies starting to distance"? North Korea doesn't have any. For other countries, NK is just a dangerous tool. They don't even consider it a nation. Hear a speech from Bush. You'll know what exactly America thinks of. And China may try to use that on upcoming event.
You know that China is still buying NK natural resources, right? Sure it is dangerous, but as long as it doesn't come up on the surface, they don't care.
Lastly, nice trying to pick me, but man, you are failing real hard. I could eat a bowl of alphabet soup and crap out a smarter insult than what you just said. In my experience, when people cursed in a specific way, such as you, it is most likely that it best suits for the one who spoke. So please, I return your words to you. Why don't you go die in a shit hole, and do the human race a god dame favor?
#292 - anonymous (04/12/2014) [-]
'World mostly agrees on it's views'

well no shit that doesn't make since you numb nut. You can't just take a chunk from a sentence and expect it to make since, but that's what happens when you fail 3rd grade English. Lets look at it as a whole;

"The world mostly agrees on it's views against North Korea"

What doesn't make since? I could brake it down for you, but since you got on the computer I assume you're smart enough to figure that out, or so I hope, but apparently that was your best attempt at an argument. China IS North Korea's only ally. That's been a fact for a while now, so crawl out from under that rock, will ya? China has distanced itself from North Korea recently because it's leadership is deranged and unstable. Oh, and glad to see you can make a few unoriginal snarky come backs. It shows just how awesome you are! The only reason I am so hostile to you is because I just can't believe the amount of bull you were flowing out. At least the other guy made some points!
User avatar #332 - jacktheripperftw (04/12/2014) [-]
You have so much mistakes, I don't even..
Please, please know the fucking difference between since and sense, or else, you are just failing as hard as not knowing you're and your. You mean 'sense'. Not 'since'. And since you have a sentence that also correctly used that word... what the fuck... now we clearly see who failed 3rd grade english.
'World mostly agrees on it is views against north Korea'. Do you see that it doesn't make sense? Because 'it's' is 'it is'? My god, please go and pussy out somewhere else, you are too low... At least use a correct term.
The other thing that was wrong, is that the 'world' is not defined that easily. Is 'world' a group of nation? does it even include north Korea? I mean, technically, if you mean by that, north korea is IN the WORLD. And I'm sure I'm not going to say fuck you to myself. Also, the WORLD you say, in a SENSE (see, this is how to use it.... learn.) of world being multiple nations, they don't think the same. They don't see in the same way. The WORLD you think is way much complicated than that. Each nation think all different, I mean, just look at Kyoto protocol, where big G20 nations tried to preserve earth? Well, US didn't care about shit, so he said go fuck yourself. That's just one small fucking example. Oh, you want a relevant one? Fine. What do you think right now, each nation has its opinions on ukraine? How about Russia? If you don't know how this WORLD is right now, you just don't have any rights to argue about it. Please keep your stupidity to yourself. Your thoughts are too shallow compared to mine. But I understand. It is only natural for a monkey like you to not understand what human thinks. I may have to lower my level greatly to be able to talk like you. Blurting out your shallow thoughts using stupid incorrect grammar with contradicting mockeries.
I bet the other guy was trying to pass out his wider thought of 'think in other perspective please' but what can I even expect from such a site like this.
#219 - anonymous (04/12/2014) [-]
I agree Snowden should not have been banned, but still i could go outside and yell "FUCK AMERICA" and I'd be fine, but a NK citizen shouting "FUCK NK" theyd probably be executed publicly
User avatar #233 - jacktheripperftw (04/12/2014) [-]
Then what's your point? That they don't have 'freedom'?
How do you even justify freedom?
If you have too much, it's dangerous, if you have too little, it's unfair.
I think it's just way of living. I will say this one thing.
War is the most terrifying thing to me.
I don't know about you guys, but war, to me, is nightmare.
It's not a game that countries play.
War torn apart family, your home, all you cared about. And only returns destruction.
If you think war is something that must be done sometimes, go on. But I'd rather build something then destroy.
User avatar #59 - aabbccddeeffgghhii (04/11/2014) [-]
So what? The majority of the country love their leader and are almost honourd to go through their hardships for the sake of the country, regardless if its "brainwashing."

Anyway, who are you to say what brainwashing is? Hell, America (I'm assuming you're American but you know what they say about assumption i suppose) is one of the most brainwashed "free" countries in the world. You salute a flag from almost fucking birth and are convinced your country is the best and its your duty to "free" other countries and give them your type of government. One little sniff of something you don't like in the middle east, Asia or what ever and you fucking roll on in waving the star spangled banner and free the fuck out of them!

Who are you to say the North Koreans are brainwashed when you do the same shit with just a different face to it?
#73 - anonymous (04/11/2014) [-]
Really? The American's aren't the sharpest tools in the shed, but you're full of shit. They have a propaganda machine, but you merely described the stereotypical American. I'm Canadian, I have been to the US quite a few times, met a few American, and have friends there. You have no idea what the average American is. They are ok people with a larger than normal obnoxious population. Most Americans are tired of war. they just want to live now, but the government won't let them rest. They keep jumping to every situation without the people's consent. Syria, Ukraine, even most the Middle East to this point. Most Americans just want to be free of it. Stop putting your views on all Americans with your hyped up stereotypes, and even more stop acting like the world should just ignore countries like North Korea. Saying we should let them do as they please is just wrong up because while you sit here on your computer all comfortable the North Koreans are tortured, starved, and oppressed every day.
User avatar #328 - ugottanked (04/12/2014) [-]
thank you for understanding were all not like that, except for the twat below you. i dont think he gets it.
User avatar #79 - aabbccddeeffgghhii (04/11/2014) [-]
Im not saying its not wrong there, but we have no right to invade! What I am saying 100% revolves around the ethics of invasion. Just because we don't like what's going on there doesn't mean we should invade!

If we're also going down the rout of "their starving!" and they have an oppressive government, why don't we invade Somalia? Why not? They are starving, they have no government whatsoever so lets give them stability, food, security and give them a chance in the world! People are killed every day because theres no police force, Pirates are killing innocent foreigners and robbing passing shipping AND they are moving into neighboring countries to kidnap holiday makers. We must put a stop to this, Invasion must be the answer to all our problems! Oh wait, that sounds retarded! WHY WOULD WE INVADE SOMALIA! THATS STUPID YOU FUCKING IDIOT! STOP BEING STUPID!

Thats the reaction i get when i state that argument, but really, whats the difference? What is it? Why is one reason for invasion ok for one country but another country (which is arguably just as bad) it isn't reason for invasion. Why is that? Thats right! Because America went to war with N.Korea 50 years ago and its never really left the consciousness of the American people, also their government is funny to laugh at.

We don't think its right to invade any other country, but North Korea is an A-Okay target!
#209 - anonymous (04/12/2014) [-]
The only thing you argued is the starvation. What about the torture and oppression?
User avatar #216 - jacktheripperftw (04/12/2014) [-]
My god. That's not the point. This site is full of stupid assholes.
And that can be as easily fixed with proper education. That's it.
User avatar #66 - cynicalpotatoe (04/11/2014) [-]
You're right I'm American, and i can't say what brainwashing is since people will have different opinions about it, but i think when you and your whole family is put into a labor camp because one of those family members spoke against their party then something is wrong there.
User avatar #71 - aabbccddeeffgghhii (04/11/2014) [-]

User avatar #331 - ugottanked (04/12/2014) [-]
what country does not have a bloody past? what country has not stained their own hands?

go ahead. name one.
#333 - anonymous (04/12/2014) [-]
I agree that no country is proud when talking about their past, but you have to admit that US is especially brutal and bloody country. No wonder. It is filled with ancestors who wanted 'second chance'.
Oh yeah, and naming one is damn easy. Greenland. Do you even know where it is? I bet your cruiser is going to search bar now.
Satisfied?
User avatar #335 - ugottanked (04/12/2014) [-]
i know where fucking greenland is.

dont act like all americans are just self-absorbed twats. you'd be suprised that not all of us are as stupid as you think.

You would like to avoid conflict with any country yet I am the one condemning invasion? Don't bull shit me dude. No matter what people are calling me in this thread I am not an idiot, don't treat me like one. You're as war mongering as the best of them.
User avatar #101 - cynicalpotatoe (04/11/2014) [-]
For the most part no i am not, at least i would like to think, but when it comes to crazy dictatorships that treat their people like shit, and have labor camps for them ,then maybe a little. And i know you will say something like before of how America isn't the free-ist of nation's.
User avatar #105 - aabbccddeeffgghhii (04/11/2014) [-]

#210 - anonymous (04/12/2014) [-]
Fuck you
User avatar #90 - amata (04/11/2014) [-]
Nukes, monica, nukes. From what I understand of Best Korea, their Glorious Leader might just be crazy enough to use them...if his "scientists" can ever manage to create ones capable of blowing up anything further away than their silos. It's unlikely, I'll grant, but still within the realm of possibility. made that bold to ensure that you won't ignore it
Also, if you think that the conditions there are bad, please explain what you have against somebody-I don't care what flag they serve- going in to make things better. Like I said before, if you know people are being abused and could help them but don't, that makes you kind of a cunt.
User avatar #98 - cynicalpotatoe (04/11/2014) [-]
I agree, I mean that would have been like the world just turning a blind eye to hitler and just saying Welp! not our problem!
Though we kinda did for a good portion of the war.
User avatar #96 - aabbccddeeffgghhii (04/11/2014) [-]
