They also got the best balls, authentic kits, and their parents payed for them to go to some 5/11 a side artificial pitches at a club where you had to pay per play.
They were also signed up for camps and stuff.
And I still got to play at a higher level than they did. Nothing too great. I was only playing at under 21s level in the East midlands area (sometimes going further for games) I even ended up playing a game on Rotheram FCs training pitch.
I always had like £40 boots and I wasn't even that good anyway, I was just fast, tried harder, and was able to keep my feet and had a knack for defence. I didn't go pro, I knew a few people that did go semi professional and about 2 who did go professional and they were as good as I was in the areas I was good in but they had the better footballing brain and were good at improving on their mistakes/deficiencies.

Also a lot of players in south america and africa there are world renowned players that came from backwaters or even the slums. Look at the ivory coast.
You have a bunch of supremely talented guys that didn't start in the middle class america setting and they did fine. Hundreds more professional players have come from brazil, and argentina. They got good because they practised wherever they could. For instance David Beckham; he came from a working class background, and he spent most of his time taking free kicks in his back garden, and playing football with friends.
Then he gets noticed when he reaches a high enough level through his own effort and gets scouted, and is now a very,very rich man.

In short what you say is partially true. But if you spend lots of time and effort polishing a turd, it will still be a turd.
If this kid puts in this much effort he will bound to get some results. The only time he won't get results is if he isn't lucky enough to get spotted, or he cannot improve himself to the right level, it's got almost nothing to do with wealth.
