That right there was an obvious foul from the German Goalie, if not penalty worthy then it was free kick worthy, but the ref didnt even call a foul :/

He did call a foul. Just the wrong way. It would spark some controversy to not call anything, but the real digestive end product started because he punished Argentina for it. Like Gary Lineker tweeted: "How dare Higuain put his head in there!"

But neuer makes contact with the ball before the Argentinian player and then made contact with the player but neither player makes contact on purpose therefor the ref can't give a penalty

I was rooting for Germany this entire World Cup, but this particular call pissed me off, It was a blatant foul on Neuer, even if the ball was won...

Should've been a throw-in for Argentina.

That shouldn't have been a foul either way, both players had a right to go for the ball and 99 out of 100 times the goalie will win that challenge since he can use his hands and get to the ball first. When he saw Neuer coming for the ball he should have tried to get out of the way. The only possible fouls could have been if Neuer had missed the ball completely or a handball as the ball could have been outside of the box.

No, wrong. Sorry.

Neuer was jumping straight towards the ball, and is already in the air before Higuain is even close to him. Then, chasing after the ball, Higuain runs diagonally into him. It was not a foul at all.

yeah! Neuer revenged the germans after what they did to Kramer

He literally ran into that guy, it's his fault.

You can say the exact same thing about the Argentinian player who ran straight into a flying German goalie. The keeper can't exactly change direction once he is airborne.

Few would think Neuers action was deliberate, so it wouldn't cause that big of a problem had the referee not called a foul. Punishing Higuain, however, that made the ref look stupid beyond dimensions.

Neuer was playing the ball. Argentinian player ran into Neuer -> Argentinian foul. Why can't people get that once you hit the ball, you are invincible to the rules if someone runs into you. If can't hit the ball and hit a player instead -> you're FOUL
#125 - comradewinter (07/14/2014) [-]
Lol, no.

In most cases it is, but reckless play can still be called for a foul. Higuain didn't run into Neuer, he just went forward. It was Neuer coming in from the side. Now most people wouldn't call it reckless as it was just an unfortunate accident, but you can't foul someone for being in the way.

Assloads of commentators, experts, referees, coaches and players have all protested against the call. Those people know far more about football than you ever will.
