Hmmm, I kinda want to learn by just trying out things myself and getting feedback, but if I get stuck I'll definitely try this idea

At the moment, top down is the primary perspective I can get in this scene, but I want to improve in general so I'll probably try to fit a few different angles and perspectives in. I'm not really using any learning resources besides occasionally glancing at things people link me to.

You could try and find old games for references, the older they are the more pixel-y they'll be. Even if you don't find one that's exactly what you're looking for, you could still use it as a reference

Yeah, I do want to get better at showing the depth of terrain.
I tried using the darker grass on the foreground terrain but I don't think it really worked.

I'll work on terrain depth after lighting and perspective

Why would you use an image with a gray background instead of a png with transparent?
Dunno why this bothers me, it just does for some reason.

Advertisers pay youtube. Youtube pays the uploaders. If there are no adds on your video, you aren't making money from it. If youtubers can't make money from their videos, they won't make the videos.

you know
like how nobody ever made any videos until monetization
#19 - leeftur (09/02/2016) [-]
Yes, because people don't consider youtube their job or anything. They don't do it full time or anything, who the fuck need to eat anyway?

If you seriously believe Youtube not paying people will lead to the same ammount and quality of videos you have today, you are fucking delusional.

I guess no other job or business has ever gone defunct or stopped making money to pay people with
Theres no way for people to recover from a necessary change of career, they just die on the spot
No way to deal with that, nuh uh

And it depends doesnt it

I can see the amount taking a nosedive, absolutely, certainly
But some of these people act like they really REALLY care a WHOLE lot about the message they repeatedly make
And I just wonder how much do they really care about what they have to say?
Enough that they'd keep making it for free?

Not that I'd ask them to but I wonder is all

Continued from earlier, and also somewhat a TL;DR version, what this means as a whole is that Youtube is stating that either people work to censor themselves and what they do, say and act if they expect to make any money off of what they are doing.

The issue here is that there are a number of people that have been making livings off of Youtube that now fall outside these rules, in fact the majority of the people making livings off of youtube are gamers and the like, and definitely fall outside of a number of these rules. Now these people are being told if they want to continue to have Ads placed on their videos and have them be monetised, they have to readjust their entire approach and how they act, otherwise they will lose their revenue.

TL;DR of this is:
Youtube says either act like a pretty perfect angel SJW twat or you can't make a living off of youtube anymore.
#7 - conniev (09/01/2016) [-]
A a professional or budding professional youtuber one would get money via ad revenue on a video, meaning that the video would be monetised and bring in money every time an advertisement is played on it, even if skipped. What that means is that if X amount of people watch a video then Y amount of ad revenue is made for the youtuber.

Now most youtubers already knew that if they wanted to get more ad revenue and better corporate deals, then it would be more prudent to act 'nicely', I guess is a word for it, but obviously just to present themselves in a very corporate friendly way.

The thing is, you didn't necessarily have to, and many youtubers that had good deals or ad revenue were still making videos covering more sensitives topics or of them playing games with a couples shits or fucks or damns tossed in.

In other words, your videos could be monetised even if you weren't a perfect angel adhering to all the social 'safe' attitudes and ways of thinking.

Now youtube is, and has in the past 24 hours, gone on a rampant and rather disgraceful demonetisation spree throughout youtube, even demonetising videos that actually /DO/ fall under their new guidelines.

What this means is that more than likely 90% of their major players, and a good 70% of the rest of the monetised youtubers more than likely do not meet their guidelines, especially if you look at:
1. Sexual humour- Lots of that goes around, hell, look at the videos of people playing Cards Against Humanity mirrors and clones and that's all you need to know.
2. Violence- Literally any gamer playing an FPS pertains to violence, arguably anyone having videos to do with martial arts such as Skallagrim(HEMA) as well, not to mention that it could be pushed onto Paintballers and Airsofters if they wanted to due to the vagueness of it.
3. All of the third point sans harassment(and even then)- Streamers could easily be screwed by a single person in their group even cussing minorly, so there's issue one. But largely the entirety of this rule depends on context, location and a number of other things. Theoretically, an American youtuber could say bugger because it's not a curse word in the States, but then it is in the UK? So where's the line. Furthermore if you look at where the line has been drawn for what is and isn't harassment and take five seconds to look into the issues youtubes had 'Battling harassment' you'd know that this should be a big red flag.
4. To damn vague- Promotion of drugs. Alcohol? It is a drug. Furthermore depending on how this is taken expect major gamer youtubers to have demonetised Fallout, Elder Scrolls and Grand Theft Auto videos due to drugs in the games. If it sounds stupid it is, but the anti-gamer medias argued that they promote drugs for years.
5. Social Justice my shit all up- There are many youtubers that act as mini-news sites that cover things that don't make it mainstream or do a better time reviewing the facts and laying out the information. Already many of them have suffered demonetisation of their videos because of this, which is wholly unfair and honestly kind of worrisome. It shouldn't take any hard digging to find that many things are being considered 'Controversial or sensitive' these days, and again, the vagueness of the rule is not helping at all.

Over all many of the rules are too vague to be considered proper, and taking a look at some of the people finding themselves demonetised, or that Youtube refuses to put ads on their videos, you'll see that youtube isn't forcing anyone to comply to being censored by them, but is expected to comply by censoring themselves.

This is essentially a bad attempt at making anyone who wants to be monetised on youtueb to turn their channels into 'safespaces' where they can't upset or offend anyone, which is not only impossible, but is impossibly stupid.

The fourth one is green, not teal, and the fifth one is water, you can see the waterfalls

The first three are teal, sure, but that doesn't make them a shade of green, which is what grass is

I'm really trying to give constructive criticism and be helpful, I really am, but it really seems like you don't want it, you just want people to say it looks good
