The only people worth knowing are the ones who are strange, and know that life's about individual aspirations, not those imposed by society. Strange is the only universal virtue

It is not as short term as you think it is. It is more than a one generation thing. There was a village in I think Denmark that kept track of everybody in the village's life, and the crop surplus of the village. They kept track of when they died, along with how they died. When the farmers in the villages had a surplus of food in late childhood, the grandsons had died of diabetes. This was not the case for the children whose grandparents were in famine during their late childhood.

I'm going to type back your logic here because I don't think I understand what you're saying. Without epigenetics, the offspring get the traits from their parents. With epigenetics, the offspring get the traits from their parents. It is possible for them to be taller then their parents because of the new genes being expressed, along with other genes that would not be expressed.

Then how do humans get taller then their parents? I feel really confident about my answer because I've talked about this exact thing with my genetics professor.

Because those traits are carried by the parents. But in epigenetics, it requires that the bloodline which posseses that trait 1)Never dies out and 2)Always gets mutations for taller genes. Epigenetics only explains the short-term changes in a single blood-line.

Epigenetics is pretty scientifically accepted. It obviously isn't the only reason for the growth because the mutation of genes also plays a part. There would also be several genes controlling the height. The genes won't automatically make you a certain height, but they could affect the rate of mitosis and the efficiency of digestion to get more calories.
User avatar #49 - crowcolin (12/18/2014) [-]
But the genes already in that organism would already dictate it's height so it would still only be the same height as it's parent.

Sakurasou No Pet Na Kanojo wasn't too bad after all. It was a little "meh" in the beginning but now it's better than at the beginning :)

Any idea when the next episode is out?
