Its amazing how many people are content to shoot themselves in the foot. I assume the majority of people on this website are between the ages of 12-30 and are of upper middle to lower class S.E.S., yet I see so many people who support Trump who as absolutely nothing to offer this group. Trump, like most of the Republican candidates, is a fear monger. He feeds off people's fears of terrorism, immigrants, and criminals to get people's support. What is his solution to these problems? Bomb/invade the middle east more? That will only create more instability and hate for the U.S. Its been less than 15 years since the War in Iraq started, and people are gungho to get tied up in that cluster fuck of an area again.

You seem to know enough about this to have an educated conversation about it. I agree that trump has solid ideas yet I cannot get past how juvenile they seem. A large wall to keep illegal immigrants out seems to be far more expensive and far less effective than other possible means. Do you think that he has a real claim to presidency or do you think that his following is only a mass of people who want nothing more than a laugh at his character and seemingly ridiculous ideas and concepts?

I think Trump is an incredibly intelligent individual. Before you laugh, allow me to explain. For example, I think he does genuinely have an interest in controlling immigration at the US/Mexico border. How many other politicians have talked about this and made no progress - In less than 3 months Trump has spurred more discussoin and progress on immigration reform than professional politicians have been able to do in the last 8 years. I do not believe Trump actually wants to build a wall or thinks it is a potential solution - I think he uses it 1) To appeal to the masses and 2) To start a discussion on the issue. Though he comes off as callous and sometimes ignorant, you have to remember this man is one of the most successful businessmen in US history. You do not get achieve what he has in his lifetime on sheer luck alone. He puts on an act because he knows the US presidency is a popularity content, he uses juvenile ideas to appeal to the masses while also spurring discussion with those who realize the potential flaws in his ideas. He has a genuine desire to good, as do most politicians. But most politicians ideas are so lofty and abstract the average person cannot connect or support them - Trump creates concrete, simple ideas.

In terms of his supporters, I think that many people laugh and joke about the things he says but I also think they support him. I mean he is winning virtually every poll - where are these supporters coming from? The same people who poke fun at him. Trump says what they feel they cannot say without ridicule, they make fun of Trump to test the waters but also to gauge other peoples reaction to trump. Trump is essentially a PC buffer - people use him to talk about issues like middle east immigrants and the potential threat they pose. I'd say the vast majority of America is concerned about that topic but they are too afraid to talk about it for fear of being labeled racist. Trump provides the perfect buffer piece to introduce the topic and have a real discussion without a fear of being labeled racist because your ideas are not as extreme as Trumps.

I didn't think of him in that light before and I admit it is a good thing to be able to speak of something without fear, yet I still have a youthful idea (pardon the lack of vocabulary, I just got off work) that people can speak their mind and not be labeled as racists. I feel that yes his being a buffer is a good thing but I also feel that it may make him far too extreme to be in the oval office regardless of whether he has brought light to these issues. I appreciate that he has but it is a definite possibility that his views on these may not just be as joking as you think and if they aren't it could be disastrous. Might be a bit between replies, playing league. (I know I'm a faggit).

Well look at the shooting that happened in California, their neighbors noticed the couple was behaving like they were about to go on a killing rampage but were afraid to report it for fear of being labeled racist. I mean when the fear exists to that degree that people are afraid to speak out about something solely because of the race of the person they will be talking about something is wrong with the country.

A personal example, not super factual I know, is at my college one of the kids in my group of acquaintances (about 30 people who hang out and party and all know each other) came out as gay and when people were talking about it everyone was walking on egg shells. No one wanted to get labeled as homophobic for saying the wrong thing even if they aren't actually homophobic. And this is amongst a group of friends - the real world is even more hostile.

I don't think his views are joking, I think he creates concrete simplistic solutions to appeal to the masses but I believe his intentions behind these ideas are legitimate. The idea behind the US border wall? Control the immigration situation, especially when 30% of illegal immigrants are being arrested for crimes such as robbery, rape, etc. We have an active flow of criminals coming across US borders and are doing nothing to stop it. We need to get a handle on that and make immigration easier for the 70% of honest hard working people to be able to travel into the US

My apologies for the lack of punctuality. I find that his ideas may be good at heart yet they have no factual or reasonable backing to them in the slightest. The idea of a wall is well enough yet it won't stop people from crossing the border if they so desire, as people can find any number of ways to get past obstacles, I can reference any number of historical events to back this claim. His ideas are so immensely terrifying to me because I've heard the same sentiments explained in better detail than Trump has from a toddler and I wouldn't have that toddler in office let alone a man that is so affluent in society right now as to put these plans into action. I see solutions everywhere every day from every facet of society that are logical and can solve far more problems than these plans and ideas that trump has from the simplest of people.

Trump is one of the most successful men in the US, do you really think he is so unintelligent that he believes simply building a wall would fix the immigration problem?

I do seeing his current demeanor. There are things in this world that we can have fun with and play and have fun but the presidency of the United States of America is not one of them. Even if there is the slightest chance that Wall Maria is going to be built around our border to keep criminals and convicts out I am afraid that Murphy's law may hold true. Even disregarding his brash statements and nearly childish play at serious events I don't see him as a very successful individual due to his father's "Small loan of one million dollars" ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=7goA_DnGIbU ) and the fact that with that million dollars he could have done far more than he has. I won't say outright that he is not successful, he has done great things in terms of economic advance, but I will say that I don't feel that he is truly fit for holding such a high power as POTUS.

Trumps current net worth is 4 billion dollars.If I were to give you 5 million dollars right now (1 million equivalent with inflation), would you be able to turn that into 10 billion dollars in 30 years(again, inflation)? Virtually no one alive would be able to do that. So sure, he may not have a "regal" stature but if you don't believe he is an intelligent man you are falling into the game he wants to play.

Irregardless, I am not going to try to convince you to vote for Trump. It seemed you were genuinely curious at first but now it more seems like you want to argue over his character. Its not worth my, or your. time to argue over whether or not he would make a good POTUS. I think he will, you don't. Yes it is true that I was not intending on voting for him coming into this argument nor was I open to a change in that intention although I must thank you for your insight into the topic since I like to know how others feel on important matters in order to fully understand what the situation is elsewhere. One man can only know so much without knowing what others do, after all. And I know for a fact that I could not have done what he did in the time frame that he did since I have no background of wealth nor would I know where to start, unlike trump. If it's any consolation, however, I think that every candidate in the polls currently is a joke and I do not intend to vote for any of them. I'd far rather cast my vote for someone simpler like vermin supreme seeing as there's people in this country that could use a law making it mandatory to brush your teeth. Just by skimming I can tell the website has a very liberal leaning (or potentially anti-trump leaning). Some stuff they are correct on but some stuff they list as false because they are cherrypicking. Example: Trump claimed syrian refugees in EU were mainly men. Nearly 80% of the refugees were in fact men but that website says Trumps claim was "entirely false" because he didnt 'correctly label the group". Or they say his plan to cut taxes without increasing the deficit is "entirely false" because "there would need to be huge spending cuts" which trump plans to do through cutting social programs so its once again, true. Or they took his comment on coal literally rather than figuratively - he was referring to the penalities the gov is currently pushing for coal power in order to spur more solar/wind power, but the website says his statement is "totally false" and completely ignores the context in which it was said. I wish this website didn't have this leaning, it could be otherwise very useful.

It's the same with most websites. As I said a pinch of salt is necessary. Although I've found that most large networks are largely anti-trump and as such it's hard to find any unbiased information regarding him. He just makes too much noise regardless of whether it is good or bad for anyone large to not push to a near extreme in talking about him.

Apologies again for not hitting all terms of your statement. As for the homophobic thing, that's a social issue that no president can solve with a wall or any other physical means and I've not seen him pose a solution to these social stigmas yet.
