I got too accustomed to Emulators, not to mention the fact that emulators for the old consoles or handhelds often perform even better than the consoles themselves.

And with all sorts of plugins the game ends up looking even better.

But yeah, I would be into that purely from collector's standpoint.

What emulator did you try?
User avatar #1173563 - crimsontyyde (02/22/2015) [-]
Even with Emulator's I don't care about how they look, I like the feel of that consoles controller in my hand, it's why I can't play ps1 games on the ps2 or ps3, it just doesn't feel natural. Anyways I don't even bloody know anymore it's been so long since I last tried.

User avatar #3992 - crimsontyyde (02/22/2015) [-]
I like the ps2 library but I have always firmly believed the only reason that console sold add well as it did was the insanely huge backing by square. That and being out until 2013.

I totally agree
User avatar #3994 - crimsontyyde (02/22/2015) [-]
Not that that's bad, but I mean really as a console, especially on the hardware angle it was pretty far behind its competition. But all in all the games make the console.
User avatar #3995 - include (02/22/2015) [-]
The PS2 had a large variety of games
User avatar #3996 - crimsontyyde (02/22/2015) [-]
Yeah, and really that's whjjat sold it, imagine if the Xbox, Gamecube, and Dreamcast had some of their top selling games like the Kingdom Hearts series for instance, 6th gen would have been a lot different.

If you have the patience to learn this guy teaches it fairly well. Basically we're working on is, eh, you know what, lemme just copy+paste what I posted when someone asked me earlier today.

A hardcore 2d MMORPG more or less story based with a heavy pressure on party play and bossing rather than grinding like an average MMO. Basically, bringing aspects of games like Meridian 59, where rather than grinding the same boss over and over, you work hard as hell to both get there with your team, and defeat the boss to get the loot. It's harder but more rewarding, I also want to do a heavy focus on the lore to give the world mor eof a feeling to it, have you immerse yourself in it and not get to the end of vanilla and think "fuck it's over now, better make another character to kill time." I want people to cap out and think "holy shit I fucking did it, I want to see the next update." But I also want to make that journey fairly long, beating the whole main lore and exploring the world for the extensive side quests and dungeons will hopefully yield around a year's game time; I want to also incorporate NPCs recognizing your achievements, when you hit max level (200) NPCs will be in awe of your power.

if you don't mind my asking what game are you working on? (massive gamer here) I'm sure it will be kick ass!
User avatar #404 - crimsontyyde (02/20/2015) [-]

How is it?
User avatar #3981 - crimsontyyde (02/22/2015) [-]
Pretty good, it's Square how can you go wrong? Haha. I'm probably gonna go pick up another dreamcast today, my old one just went RIP
User avatar #3982 - include (02/22/2015) [-]
Sorry to hear that
User avatar #3983 - crimsontyyde (02/22/2015) [-]
Hey man I got that thing on launch back in fucking 1999, it was bound to go sometime, eh?

I know man, nothing lasts forever
User avatar #3986 - crimsontyyde (02/22/2015) [-]
And hey, it's only 30bucks ish for a Dreamcast nowadays
User avatar #3987 - include (02/22/2015) [-]
Wow that's really cheap.
User avatar #3988 - crimsontyyde (02/22/2015) [-]
Well it is an old console. Hell NES's are generally 50 bucks from game stores.
User avatar #3989 - include (02/22/2015) [-]
Maybe I should consider getting one.
User avatar #3990 - crimsontyyde (02/22/2015) [-]
Well the Dreamcast is my all time favorite console so you won't see me argue with ya. Haha
User avatar #3991 - include (02/22/2015) [-]
The PS2 was my favourite
User avatar #3992 - crimsontyyde (02/22/2015) [-]
I like the ps2 library but I have always firmly believed the only reason that console sold add well as it did was the insanely huge backing by square. That and being out until 2013.
User avatar #3993 - include (02/22/2015) [-]
User avatar #3985 - crimsontyyde (02/22/2015) [-]
With what broke I'm better off just getting a new one instead of repairing it, although I'm probably going to keep my console in one of my display cases.

Also, you just gotta be aggressive about getting yourself out there, trust me mate I know it isn't easy, but just whip it out and show everyone why they should pick you to... do... stuff for money.

I haven't been to Dublin in bloody ages, last time I was there it was on a trip to see my old friend; right now though I'm on a trip home, I don't technically live in Ireland anymore, had to mov eto the states to get my game development career moving, but I go home every few months for about a week or two. Gotta get my company up and runnin' , I still consider myself from ireland since I haven't lived anywhere for a real extended period of time since I got here and I'm here out of necessity, y'know? I miss home.
