I was being sarcastic.

And not really, as everything else is the galaxy spins around the huge black hole in the centre too, so i doubt there would be a difference.
User avatar #134 - biomedic (12/24/2012) [-]
They move at different speeds around the centre relative to distance from it, so yes, it could bring us a few thousand light years closer, which is very significant.
#150 - awhshum (12/24/2012) [-]
Using that logic, they could also move us further away from them. The chances are small, and it would take millions of years to do one resolution of the galaxy anyway.
User avatar #151 - biomedic (12/24/2012) [-]
That's true, but you can discredit the one's we're moving away from as too difficult to reach. Plus it really depends how much closer/ further away from the sun the star you're trying to reach is, as to how long you'd need to wait before a large distance of the journey is shaved off, you might not need to wait a full rotation (250 million years btw). All I'm saying is don't be so pessimistic and disregard sound logic just because you think it's 'unlikely'.
User avatar #112 - prostatepaul (12/24/2012) [-]
well, our solar system isn't the only one moving. Unless you mean somehow escaping the sun's orbit, and then somehow wait quantillions of years for other earth-like planets to pass.
User avatar #110 - popadoo (12/24/2012) [-]
But the Earth-like planets are orbiting the center of the galaxy too.
