ain't true btw it's no remnant only humans and anthropoid apes have them

it's developing shortly before the actual act of birth and not in the earier stages of developemnt like our tailbone for example
User avatar #91 - cormy (04/15/2015) [-]
Uh, nope, other animals have them and other animals have the full thing.
It's called a Cecum, check it in horses.
The appendix is a remnant of the cecum we used to have as ancient primates, who eat leaves and other plantlife all the time.
Rabbits, Mole-rat and the Wombat also have appendix.

That article doesn't conflict with anything I've said.
It doesn't say that it's not a remnant, notice the quotations. It is not a vestigial organ, because it still has a purpose but that does not mean it didn't evolve from the cecum.
#71 - scooterdanny (04/15/2015) [-]
Well, i wouldn't go so far as to call it vestigial, as we still have important "flora" in our guts, the fact that we no longer can produce cellulase merely reduces/changes the function.

Not trying to disagree, just trying to prevent confusion.
#80 - gisuar (04/15/2015) [-]
we've never been able to produce it
animals like cows have a special kind of bacteria just for that they don't produce it themselves either
#81 - scooterdanny (04/15/2015) [-]
I suppose i should have clarified, i thought my wording implied that.
#83 - gisuar (04/15/2015) [-]
some may say the symbiotic relationship between us (animals) and our intestinal flora is more than just a partnership of convenience

so you could probably be right depending on definition

And finally, the most amusing part of all this is watching you get your panties in a twist over a simple joke. Other people got that I was just making a joke. You walked in, scratched your head, and said you didn't get the joke. I then explained it to you. Then you had your little shit-fit about it being an 'attack'.

Seriously? It's a fucking joke. Get over yourself. Go buy, and then put on, your big boy pants if you're going to interact socially on the internet from now on.

Tell you what; next time, I'll leave it simply at '*extinct'. We won't try to have any fun on this website. We'll just be good little automatons clicking next, chuckling to ourselves for 2.3 seconds, and no more, and donating to Big Brother Admin. How's that sound? Work for you?

Jesus christ I'm just having an argument here lol I'm not angry or anything, if anything... You need to get over yourself and get your big boy pants on, I'm allowed to have a different point of view and to publicly debate it if I feel that I'm right.

This is fun for me, and you're welcome to have your own but you can't stop me from doing what I want either. Jesus christ I'm not trying to encroach on anyone's life, I'm just trying to point out something that I feel is very relevant to me.

Any error in text can be said to be a failure to proofread before submission, that doesn't really hold any weight in this argument. This is a typographical error, the wrong thing was typed not because of a lack of knowledge or understanding of grammar, he knew what he did was wrong, he just submitted and printed the wrong word in his rush to post. An error fed by muscle memory is a physical issue attributing to his typing, it's not a mental error. There's no other classification for this kind of error, he didn't just spell a word wrong or MEAN to use the wrong word, his hands just substituted them without him noticing.

It had to be explained because like him, I can get by without having to read things exactly as they are meant to be or type things exactly as they are meant to be. I can scan over text and get the gist of it without having to concentrate on individual letters or words.

Based on #98, he made an error, but not a typographical one. 'Muscle memory' is not a 'typo'. It's a failure to proofread before submission.

In fact, it had to be explained twice before the error was caught. I even had to explain it to you. And at least 7 other people got it as soon as I said it.

It was either ignorance or a failure to proofread before submission. It was never a typo.

A typographical error (often shortened to typo) is a mistake made in the typing process (such as a spelling mistake) of printed material. Historically, this referred to mistakes in manual type-setting (typography).

And even the Wikipedia article (not the final authority on anything, but sometimes useful) makes no reference to using a different word entirely, other than the informal and recent 'atomic typo', such as accidentally typing 'unclear' instead of 'nuclear'. And that's a simple transposition of two letters; the U-N/N-U. You might make a case for 'instinct/extinct', but the first two letters of both words are in separate areas of a standard keyboard. That's puts it more in the category of incorrect word selection/failure to proofread than 'typo'.

It's a typo in the same way that a rock is edible. Sure, if you grind it down into powder and force the issue, stir it up with some water and put hot sauce on it, you can eat it... put it's really stupid to do so.

He chose the wrong word. That's not a typo. That's ignorance, especially if he didn't do it on purpose.
A typo would have been something like 'etxinct' or 'exinct'.

Show a definition of 'typo' that includes completely wrong word choice instead of a mistakenly selected key. That's what typo means; you hit the wrong key while trying to type a specific word.

He spelled 'instinct' correctly. He misused the word. That's not a typo.
User avatar #96 - cormy (04/14/2015) [-]
He did not CHOSE the wrong word, he knows exactly which word means what, it's not ignorance especially if he didn't do it on purpose, that doesn't make any sense. If you don't realize you wrote a different word from what you had intended to, it's not because you're ignorant, it's because your muscle memory got away from you without you noticing.

I do the same thing while writing with a pencil on paper, my mind gets ahead of me and I often COMBINE words as I write them, starting with one word and ending it with the second half of another word. I know it's wrong, but if I don't notice and it stays, that's a typo too. It's a typing/writing mistake, not a lack of knowledge that causes the error.

None of the definitions of the word exclude such an error, they just say typing mistakes, with spelling being an example.

Not a spelling mistake, a typo. He typed the wrong thing. It happens to me all the time because of how quickly I'm able to type. I often substitute words that start similarly without even noticing. As soon as I start typing a word, the first 3 letters basically already tell my hands which pattern to execute and I've done some of them so often, I do it without realizing it's the wrong one.
My hands have a preference for words depending on which ones are used more.

#101 - cormy (04/18/2015) [-]

And it looks like you've finally gotten over a simple joke. Welcome to FunnyJunk. Enjoy your stay.
User avatar #105 - cormy (04/20/2015) [-]
Not in the slightest, that was sarcasm but the reaction picture is very much relevant. I'm disappointed in you.
It was never about the "joke", it was about a semantic debate, and I was fine with that.
It looks like you've finally gotten over your "ultimate knowledge bringer cure" or perhaps you've just given up because your knowledge isn't good enough to convince anyone of your bull shit views.

User avatar #99 - AcidFlux (04/15/2015) [-]

Tumblr drove me over the edge

Asami is a wonderful character dripping with personality but the show writers and tumblr see her as baggage and tits

awful writing.

Why the new reply stack again?
And what could have possibly drove you to write so much?! I mean... Giving Asami a proper background is one thing, but you're tackling a whole lot more than that! Seems like you've got yourself an enormous project going on.

Although I've been able to force myself to write stories for school, I've never liked doing it. It doesn't matter what pops into my head, actually writing is is just shiiiiiiiiit work that seems to do more harm than anything else! I have a friend of mine that runs a serious role-playing game-story thingy and he takes it very seriously and has been doing it for a while, no idea how he keeps it up.
Have you at least had a general idea/direction for the story from the start? 'cause I have a problem with that, I might come up with a good concept for a story but actually making a basic plotline for the whole thing is impossible!

Legend of Sato, legend of Beifong, Book 1, Book 2, Legend of Mako are all completed script wise

Getting to the red lotus chapters is gonna be long because I need to write prequels for all 4 of them THEN do book 3.

So all the dialogue is already done but you're waiting on...? Comic pages?

Could get drawings from when I was in elementary school for ya!
Nah, I just got sum stuff from the internet and uhh... I own 2 posters. I guess there's a couple of paintings around the house too, got a wolf one above my headboard.

You saying you drew that comic? Or is it a "reaction comic"?

I have a serious lack of anything LoK related because I really didn't enjoy the series... Couldn't take any of it serious at all. I didn't end up watching most of the episodes. I started it, didn't like it, was forced to watch the entire first... 2? 3? seasons and then I was forced to watch the 2 finale episodes by my friend.
Code Geass is my thing mainly for large digital art collections aswell as some pony stuff.

"Redbull gives you wings!"
"The chosen? The chosen. THE CHOSEN! THE CHOSEN!?! THE CHOSEN! The chosen of mana. The chosen."
"Woman, woman, woman, woman, woman!"
"Mythos wanted to **** Noishe."
