While it is perfectly understandable that you would want to avoid shootouts with criminals, I hope you understand your place in society as a police officer. It is your duty to take that risk specifically so that we can have those rights. What you really should want is to deal with a society that is low in crime. Being well-armed has nothing to do with it as long as your arent dealing with scumbags and as long as you are making the right decisions on your end.

Remember something. the most important duty you have is not to your badge. It is not your boss. It is not to your department, or even your partner. Your #1 most important priority is respecting and securing the rights and well-being of citizens. Doing what is right comes before the law. Don't engage in anti-gun activities for your own safety. Your safety is not the main priority anymore when you become a police officer.
