danishguy (04/24/2012) [-] First off, you're abstaining from the arguement. Diamonds are useful as fuck. Second off, no, we don't have enough diamonds now. As of now, we only use Diamonds in the Mining industry and the Diamond jeweling industry, since, only another diamond can cut a diamond. If we had unlimited ammounts, we could refine all tools in the world, even something as simple as hammers. Imagine being able to use diamonds for all tools in the world. The ammount of iron and other metals we would save would be humongous, and since diamond tools are so hard, and don't rust, they could last 100's of years before requiring replacement, or even repair. #595

captininsanoobacon (04/24/2012) [-] well two things first, don't take your knowledge of minerals from minecraft, obsidian is a volcanic glass, its sharp as all mighty hell but not anywhere harder then diamond or even granite for that matter, its glass. Second despite what people believe diamonds are by no means rare, they are common as hell. They are made of carbon one of the most abundant minerals on the earth. The reason they are so expensive is because they are stockpiled by the diamond cartels and only released in small amounts to keep the price artificially high. ( this isn't some crazy conspiracy, look it up.) Also the diamonds used for jewelry and the such that are so expensive are also a small fraction of the diamonds that are mined, the ones sold the ones with the fewest impurities and the clearest. Dogs are ultimately more useful as a whole then diamonds, anything diamonds can do other materials can do albeit maybe not as effectively. Dogs can be used for food ether with helping in hunting or eating if needed. They provide emotional support for humans as companions as well has having much better hearing and sense of smell then us, thus helping counteract our shortcomings. They can also be trained to help us with various tasks. Diamonds can only used as blades and hammers. With the rarer blue diamonds being used as electrical conductors and the red ones as heat conductors i believe. You honestly dont know what you are talking about. 1. most tools use synthetic diamonds, not natural diamonds, only 1.2% are natural diamonds for all tools. 2. there is 4,500,000,000 carats of diamonds alone in just south Africa. like i said before we already have enough anyway not including the synthetic made diamonds. 3. i wasnt abstaining from the argument, You said diamonds are useful because, "we'd be capable of refining all industries that demands tools" which was wrong. minerals.usgs.gov/minerals/pubs/commodity/diamond/mcs-2011-diamo.pdf en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamond www.mine2mistress.com/ | ||

danishguy (04/24/2012) [-] You do realize that if everyone had unlimited diamonds, we could create super tools to everyone in the world, right? Diamond is the hardest substance on earth, with the exception of obsidian. They use Diamond-tipped drills for industry mining all around the earth, and they also use it for cutting of extremely hard materials. With unlimited diamonds, we'd be capable of refining all industries that demands tools, which would advance humankind in a MUCH greater way than unlimited dogs would. #606

N. Korean citizen (04/24/2012) [-] You do realize that we would mine our entire Earth completely dry, correct? But before that is happening, the scientists dog knocked over a piece of paper while playing with his toy and the scientist figures out the last remaining clue to cloning. Because of his best friend, his friend that was their to help him during bad or frustrating times, people can give food to the needy like there's no tomorrow. Oh, sorry, diamonds are still better? decorative diamonds are only used show social status and wealth, the one i am guessing is the one in this picture. Also, tools cant be made for most types of tools such as hammers, bcuz it will shatter like glass. It is mostly used for cutting/grinding by attaching small bits of it onto the blade. You fail to realize that we already have enough diamonds to accomplish this..... #586

| Cosmetics arent exactly useful is the point. If every one had unlimited diamonds then they would be useless agreed? no one would care about them. If every one had unlimited dogs each dog would still have an emotional bond with the owner, be used in various ways, and in the worse case scenario, be eaten as food. and yes, we can define anything as valuable but no, we cant define anything as invaluable. #580
