Joining the military is a conscious decision. Legally speaking, it was decided that most individuals at 18 are physically and mentally capable of choosing to enlist. It doesn't matter how tough or mature you are at 18, it doesn't change the rate at which your brain develops.

And your body can always bounce back from junk food. But impeding the development of your brain? That doesn't go back.

Choosing to drink is also a conscious decision. There are a LOT of CONSCIOUS decisions you can make at 18 that can hurt you... That's the fucking point.

Why don't you educate yourself a little bit before saying you can bounce back. Here is one example:

At 18 you can buy cigarettes... Just as harmful if not more so than alcohol. So how does your point apply to that?

At 18, you're mature enough to decide if you want to protect your home - but your brain isn't biologically able to withstand the effects of alcohol.

at 18 (or any age for that matter) your body isn't biologically able to process large amounts of junk food and chemicals and stay healthy... Again what's your point?

Also you are saying that at 18 you are old enough to decide to risk your life to join the army, but apparently not old enough to handle the risks associated with alcohol?

You aren't making very good arguments.
