comicexplain, I have a question for thee. Is the Marvel NOW! title 'Uncanny Avengers' supposed to be in an alternate universe or within the main continuity? From what I've seen it appears to be both. Please sir this question has perplexed me to great lengths. Tell me of what the true nature this comic holds.
User avatar #364 to #363 - comicexplain ONLINE (10/21/2014) [-]
It's cannon in that universe! It all takes place -after- Avengers vs. X-Men, which set the pins of the story!
User avatar #366 to #364 - guardianatreyu (10/21/2014) [-]
Alright I think I get it now. The Apocalypse Twins destroyed Earth and got their mutant planet, but somehow the avengers of the main timeline learn about all this happening and end up stopping it before it happens. ****** wacky.
User avatar #365 to #364 - guardianatreyu (10/21/2014) [-]
BUT THAT MAKES NO DAMN SENSE! What the hell marvel?!?!?!?!
#353 - senjougahara (10/17/2014) [-]
Currently reading through the Marvel Zombies collection. Im sorta cofused.
Do they explain later on how the virus arrived on earth in the first place? All I get so far is that it came from an alternate dimension.
And is Ultimate Doctor Doom pepsi for good?
User avatar #355 to #353 - comicexplain ONLINE (10/17/2014) [-]
I believed it was established that the virus entered earth via asteroid! At the same time, the arrival of the virus has been explained through several of the stories as a paradox loop!

As for The Good Doctor, he was supposed to be gone for good - That's kinda Ultimates thing - But the writers have, for whatever reason, brought him back without explanation as to why he survived!
User avatar #357 to #355 - senjougahara (10/17/2014) [-]
So is Magneto responsible for its descent on earth or was it just a natural occurrence?
User avatar #358 to #357 - comicexplain ONLINE (10/17/2014) [-]
Natural occurrence! Magneto had nothing to do with it's coming to earth!
User avatar #359 to #358 - senjougahara (10/17/2014) [-]
The lack of info on the origins of the asteroid is going to bug me.
User avatar #360 to #359 - comicexplain ONLINE (10/17/2014) [-]
I will tell you that it exists in most universes, though almost always contained! Only in the zombie-verse has it branched out in such an unstoppable manner.

How do I new 52?
User avatar #336 to #335 - comicexplain ONLINE (10/16/2014) [-]
They're easy to start with! If you find an Issue #0, always start with those! Great reads! Considering they're still new, it's best to start from the begining!
User avatar #337 to #336 - languagexplain (10/16/2014) [-]
But weren't the issue #0 released like a year later?

Also I'm mostly confused by hwat appears to be two batman storylines. One with the Joker/Dollmaker that seems to be a prelude to Death of the Family and the Court of Owls storyline.
User avatar #338 to #337 - comicexplain ONLINE (10/16/2014) [-]
I know what you mean - The writers almost seem to be writing in two different narratives! But, once you get the pace of it all, it's -super- easy to follow!
User avatar #339 to #338 - languagexplain (10/16/2014) [-]
Buuuuut how do the storylines relate to one another?
User avatar #341 to #339 - comicexplain ONLINE (10/16/2014) [-]
Yep, Owls comes first, -then- Joker! they're different arcs!
User avatar #342 to #341 - languagexplain (10/16/2014) [-]
Yeah I know but part of joker and dollmaker was released in the Detective comics series, simultaneously with the court of owls sotryline in the Batman series.
This is confusing to me.
User avatar #343 to #342 - comicexplain ONLINE (10/16/2014) [-]
No worries! It's safe to read them at the same time. Just more delicious batman food on your plate!
User avatar #344 to #343 - languagexplain (10/16/2014) [-]
One more thing. Is there any advantage to reading the comics by release date, like Batman #1, Green Lantern #1, Aquaman #1 etc Or should I just read Batman #1, Batman #2, Batman #3 etc.
User avatar #345 to #344 - comicexplain ONLINE (10/16/2014) [-]
Yes, actually! Characters usually interact with one another, and it's best to get the -full- story before moving on!
User avatar #346 to #345 - languagexplain (10/16/2014) [-]
Does that apply to the entire DC universe though? Or just related characters?
User avatar #347 to #346 - comicexplain ONLINE (10/16/2014) [-]
There's almost always a connection, though not every character knows one another. All in all, when it comes to the big guys, read them all! But, try not to exhaust yourself. Quite the bit to read!
User avatar #348 to #347 - languagexplain (10/16/2014) [-]
I have them in cbr on my phone, so I can read anywhere, whenever I have some spare time.
User avatar #340 to #339 - comicexplain ONLINE (10/16/2014) [-]
There's a slight chronological shift! I -believe- Court of Owls happens before Joker, but at the same time, I also remember Owls effecting one before the other... Hrm~. Talk about your anachronism stew!

Well, let's see. Buu was a mass of pure evil, so unlike the other souls of the universe, he was able to be reincarnated very, very quick! It's also why the spirit bomb worked so well, despite his power - Because the Spirit Bomb is basically a ball of pure good intentions, mixed with destructive force! Bardock was sent back in time thanks to Freizas Death Ball, where he became the first Super Saiyan to have ever lived defeating Freizas ancestor!

For MK, you can start just about anywhere! Pick up an issue, and if you don't quite understand it, just go back one or two, and you'll be golden!

As for comics... There's just way too many for me to list. I would much rather you support your local comic book store, but here's a small collection to start with!

Comic explain, I'm new to pretty much everything involving the lanterns, and the like.
Can you explain in a basic manner how in Injustice super man was able to wear the yellow ring with such ease while green lanterns are specifically chosen by the ring?

And what happens that makes superman lose said ring?
User avatar #319 to #318 - auan (09/22/2014) [-]
I forgot to log in when asking this, Reply to this account please!
User avatar #320 to #319 - comicexplain ONLINE (09/22/2014) [-]
The yellow ring chose Superman, because it was shown that he could inspire great fear. And indeed, he did! Beyond that, it also made him more powerful when people feared him. Batman broadcasted the event to the whole world, and with the entire worlds fear powering him, he became even -more- unstoppable! So in short, the Ring -did- choose Superman.
User avatar #321 to #320 - auan (09/22/2014) [-]
I got a brief spoiler from having played the game that he loses the ring later on somehow, or something? What occurs that makes him abandon/lose the ring, or was this a devlopment oversight?

And thanks for the reply!

Hey, I was wondering who your favorite Green Lanter was? Like which character that is a Green Lantern, doesn't have to be human.
User avatar #295 to #294 - comicexplain ONLINE (09/06/2014) [-]
Kyle! He's the only human to effectively control all the spectrum of emotion -without- turning evil! Thus turning into a =proper= White Lantern!
User avatar #296 to #295 - sexyhimself (09/06/2014) [-]
Sweet tits, he's my favorite too.
I haven't read much Green Lantern comics but I started with the New 52 thingy majigg and now at the point where I got there's like a cross over so I had to read all the other Green Lantern comics (Green Lantern corps, Red Lantern and New Guardians) so I had to catch up on them but that's how I found out about Kyle so it kinda worked out in the end.

also from the very little I have read Sinestro is like my second favorite even though he used to be a bad guy and will probably be a bad guy again very soon
User avatar #297 to #296 - comicexplain ONLINE (09/06/2014) [-]
That's Sinestro for you! I suggest reading Injustice soon. Sinestro is...

Well. It shows him with a good color!
User avatar #298 to #297 - sexyhimself (09/06/2014) [-]
is Injustice part of the New 52 or is like an alternate universe kinda thing?

also, isn't it connected to the fighting game?
User avatar #299 to #298 - comicexplain ONLINE (09/06/2014) [-]
Alt universe! Not connected to 52, and yes, it's an -awesome- comic based on the popular game! They really did it justice!
User avatar #300 to #299 - sexyhimself (09/06/2014) [-]
I've been wanting the game for quite some time but never gotten around to buying it when I have the money/chance to. Should I play it before I read the comics?
User avatar #301 to #300 - comicexplain ONLINE (09/06/2014) [-]
Hrm, yes. Story mode is important, for the narrative. The comic is a prequel to the game, so it's best to see what the author's trying to point at! And it relay is an awesome game.

Do you have a tablet, or anything like that?
User avatar #302 to #301 - sexyhimself (09/06/2014) [-]
I have an Iphone, does that count? How so?

I usually totally legally download the comics I read (not that that are many) and read them with a comic reader majigger on my Mac

**** this makes me sound like an Apple fanboy when I'm really not. I got my phone as a gift like 3 or so years ago and my Mac I got from school when I started last year
User avatar #303 to #302 - comicexplain ONLINE (09/06/2014) [-]
Hm, I don't think that'll work. Drats! There's a free game for Injustice for Android and tablets. Does't have the story, but it's a fun little game anyway! Great graphics, too, for a little game like that, too!
User avatar #304 to #303 - sexyhimself (09/06/2014) [-]
I see, I might probably buy the game for PS3 sooner or later.
But there's one thing I need to now.
Is Nightwing any good in the game? (If he was in it, I'm pretty sure he was)
User avatar #305 to #304 - comicexplain ONLINE (09/06/2014) [-]
He's in! Not just Dick, but Damien, as well.
User avatar #306 to #305 - sexyhimself (09/06/2014) [-]

Are Trask Industries and Stark Industries supposed to be anagrams of each other?
User avatar #279 to #278 - comicexplain ONLINE (08/16/2014) [-]
From what I understand, no! Trask and Stark have nothing similar to one another in the least, aside from their richness.

Trask died a hero, despite all the things he had done. If it -was- an anagram, I wonder if Tony will die a villain?

Now that that's out of the way it's time for my question: We were talking with a friend of mine and somehow we got to the point where he said something like "Is there a Jesus superhero?" So, my question is... is there?

Yes, actually, quite a few! My favorite is the Phantom Stranger. Sometimes, the writers have his backstory as Jesus! Of course, in other backstories, he's Cain... Most of the time, however, he doesn't -have- a story behind him. He's simply who he is.

As for Jesus as a character, Marvel has him! Though he's called 'The Friend', he helps Johnny Blaze (AKA Ghostrider) defeat SATAN!
