- 99% percent of people exposed to Dihydrogen Monoxide die. …
So, my friend likes organic...
Technically, there are still 8 billion-ish people exposed to Dihydrogen Monoxide that haven't died yet, so we don't know.
But how many before them have died because of it? Have there not been enough to set a precedent?
100% isn't a precedent, it's a bold claim.
You raise a valid point. But if we have a group and EVERY individual has died after consuming dihydrogen monoxide, can we not say it's safe to say others could live?
At this point we have millions of dead as supporting evidence. I don't think it's fair to assume the current population might live even though there has been a 0% success rate.
Like zakipu said, we don't have a group of people who have never been exposed, so we don't know whether that's causation or just correlation.
And as far as we know, the current sample of humans might not die. And of that remaining 1% which we are a fraction of, you'd need
of them to die for your original claim to be true. I'm not sure that's even remotely a realistic claim considering the number of humans in that 1%. Certainly one of those won't die.
Drat. The online reason I could continue having an argument was because we weren't talking correlation vs. causation.
What we need is a control group that has never been exposed to DHMO
