Well it doesn't have to be 1,000,000 light years away. I think 10 thousand would be sufficient. having it 10,000 would create a time dispersion of 20,000 years after reflection, thereby disproving the bibles view of the earth being 6,000 years old. Destroying religion would be nifty enough, the only thing we'd accomplish from anything more than 50,000 years would be seeing lava earth, snow ball earth, then jungle earth - not as fun as destroying religion.
