I definitely see the stagnation, but I haven't seen a problem with it yet. I've watched so much garbage harem anime that follows the exact same formulas, with the exact same character archetypes (this is the worst part, after you watch 3-4 harem anime you've seen every archetype of character you will ever see) and yet all they do is put 1 little extra spin on it and people still eat it up like hot cakes. Half the time you know exactly whats going to happen and even what the characters are going to say before they say it, but the shows still get good ratings and fly off the shelves.

As a normal person I've definitely seen enough, but I don't see any weebs complaining that companies keep cookie-cuttering shows out.

Its a very gradual thing. It takes a very long time for something like this to outwear it welcome but when it does you'll know when its come. Companies that pumped out animus will lay off most if not all of their workers and go into defense mode. Most will go out of business and the ones that are left will be forced to change tack. It could be years before major companies reinvest in production studios or accept pilots.
Mark my words. The general discontent you see is only the start. The discontent will grow until it consumes the industry and we'll see a crash. Its nothing new. Its happened to a half dozen industries in the past century if not more. It just sucks shit thats its going to happen to one I'm invested in

But my main point is, if the majority want shit then it's not shit to them. And if people are enjoying the shit, and it sells then who is any one man to say "what you people enjoy is crap, enjoy what I think is good because what you think is good is not actually good and I know better.". It's like applying literal feminist logic to anime (I know better than you do about what you can enjoy and what "good" means to an anime), although I agree with everything (yes moe trash and otaku culture is killing anime) it still isn't fair to call it trash. Because many people enjoy it, its wrong to tell them not to.

Just because:

Miyazaki/non-otaku interests =/= otaku views

does not make

Otaku views = wrong
Miyazaki views = right

It just makes them different, and to each their own. Live and let live.

People are entitled to their shit opinions. That is true. But stagnation of an industry never works out. Even the most weeby of weebs will get tired of their waifus if its the same stereotype copypasta'd over and over long enough. When that happens the money train stops and with no one left with the talent to make anything actually interesting the market crashes.
Stagnation and oversaturation of subpar content is what caused the Gaming Crash of 1983. Anime is going down the same route and its alot less likely to bounce back like gaming did.
