| One of his main goals, if elected, is to take down the NSA, so id believe it. What did they try to push? Im not too great at keeping up with what bills are put up. They waited to vote on it in the dead of night. When people are busy with Christmas prep and the MSM is shitting itself over Star Wars so they cant be bothered to talk about some boring omnibus. Additionally they used the nature of an omnibus to counterattack what criticism they did garner. While 90% of the bill was about shipping in as many immigrants as possible and turning them into loyal voters as fast as possible or provisioning spying, the 10% left went to innocuous things like vet support programs so when people questioned them they could point to the decent bit and claim you're the bad guy for not supporting that. Unfortunately they didnt just try to push it. Thy got it through both congress and senate in record speed. The 2,000 page omnibus they passed allotted 1.1 trillion dollars to a shitton of things. Some big points, Ryan’s House-passed omnibus will bring in nearly 300,000 Muslim migrants in the next 12 months alone, including roughly 170,000 who will be permanently resettled within the country. >guaranteeing visas for people from Middle East >grants tax credits to illegal aliens >QUADRUPLING work visas and outsourcing 200,000 American jobs >It also allows for near total surveillance of civilian communiactions I have no hope for a veto. But this does show one thing. They were probably hoping to do all these things but much more gradually and less conspicuously . The fact they showed they're hand like this means they feel threatened. We just have to keep the pressure on. The rats know the ship is sinking and are trying to grab as much as they can before they're forced to bail. Do you know where I can find it? I really need to know just how hard were about to be fucked. | ||

| Hillary Clinton is unlikeable, untrustworthy, and scandal-ridden but her actual stances at least are fairly mainstream center-left stances. If she inherits most of Obama's advisors, I'd mostly just expect her to maintain the status quo, or at least continue in the same direction as Obama. #26 -
urmomsagrot (12/20/2015) [-] Sooo to shit? No really, it's like taking a burning building and pouring more fuel onto it. Most of the lefts and rights views (read: -most-, not all, and we could argue about this, but that's not the point) are the same because that's what makes them left and right. He isn't saying she is a megalomaniacal horror because she is left, he is saying it because (as you seem to know) she is a psychopathic criminal who can't say a god damn word without lying or committing a crime that would send a mere citizen to prison for life. This is an unpopular opinion, but I don't think Obama's presidency has been that terrible. I can pick out flaws as well as the next guy and there are plenty of things I'm dissatisfied with, but America really has not gone to shit because of Obama. Part of my point in my comment was to contrast Hillary with people like Sanders or Trump, who propose much more dramatic changes than I'd expect to see from Clinton. My main worry about Clinton besides her dishonesty is foreign policy, which is arguably the area of policy that a President has the most direct control over. She was not a good Secretary of State, and while we'd be okay if she more or less maintained the status quo domestically, you just can't do that with foreign policy. The world's going to change whether the we like it or not, and it's going to affect us in any event, so we need someone to at least respond competently, if not lead actively. Having said all that, in my view Trump is pretty much the worst case scenario, except maybe for Carson - yes, even worse than Clinton. Almost all of his most famous and most popular stances/policies are ludicrous populist fantasies and he doesn't bother coming up with concrete plans or educating himself on the issues because he knows his base doesn't know or care about the details. And on top of that he's an unabashed asshole and sexist - not someone I want representing America on the global stage at all, and not someone I can see doing much good for our international relationships. Jeb Bush is right about him, frankly - he's not a serious candidate. Trump's biggest strength by far is that he's remarkably adept at gaining popularity. He knows how to play to people's emotions and prejudices, he knows how to be entertaining, and he knows how to turn media criticism to his advantage. Those are excellent skills for a demagogue, but not qualifications for the presidency. #30 -

malifauxdeux (12/13/2015) [-] By some accounts, Trump has actually lost money since his big inheritance. By all accounts, he's worth considerably less than he would be if he had just dumped all the money in to the stock market. So yeah, he's really not that great at making money. He hasn't lost anything. That's like me finding out that someone won a million dollars off a scratch off in my local gas station, and me thinking I lost money because I didn't buy all the tickets before that person won. Also three things aren't being taken into account: 1.) Most calculations are comparing current wealth which has taxes and various other expenditures paid out of it, to the end result of dumping dumping 500million into the S&P and waiting 30 years. I can tell you right now, the difference is nowhere near what people are making it out to be. 2.) This is also implying that Trump has some magic ball to know what prices will be in the future, and that it would have been more lucrative that investing in real estate (and now, it's still not. I'll get to that though.). Which, considering the fluctuations the market takes, this is absurd. Again, this is like telling someone they're terrible at making money because they didn't put their entire life savings into apple when it was worth 50 cents back in the 80's. "You had 10k in 1980 and now have 200,000 in assets and 40,000 in cash? PFFT you're terrible at making money, if you put all of that into this seemingly stagnant tech company you would have over 2million right now." It's an idiotic argument to make and you know it. 3.) The idea that real estate is someone a worse investment than the stock market is absurd. Especially in it's current state. 500 million in real estate has a significantly larger potential on return than 500 million in the stock market even on the riskiest of investments. It has not only value but usability and potential profit for other individuals as well. But neanderthals are great at making billions. That's been evidenced by the simple fact that so many are within power today. And any good politician can lead the media, that's the so simple you have a bunch of dindu nuffins doing it daily. And just because he has people believing what he wants does not mean he is in any way less reprehensible, it just means people are way to easy to trick. Hell, Obama got into office simply because a bunch of niggers wanted someone to make them feel powerful. It's honestly no different here.

| Hey there. Ethnically Muslim and Jewish people are things. In that part of the world they're very very important, people don't care what race you are there, and your religious affiliation is passed through blood, there's no roundabout way of putting it: It's a race, stop trying to use that argument. #211 -
xexion (12/09/2015) [-] Your statement is racist and stupid. What you're doing is lumping all Muslims together and ignoring any of their ideological, cultural, and spatial differences. Your argument is a combination of 'all asians look the same to me' and a six year old stubbornly going "nope. You're wrong I'm right, don't even try". And if religion is passed through blood what? are there muslim midichlorians? then holy shit I'm a Judeacatholiceastorthodoxical indian. #299 -
bultar (12/10/2015) [-] I see you have no idea what you're talking about. No, you're right, I was dumbing it down. Here's the longer version: Firstly, "race" etymologically comes from "razza," meaning "lineage, breed or family." So in order to establish what is and is not a race is step one. A narrow-minded person like yourself sees "race" and thinks it means "ethnic group" or "group defined by geographical origin and/or physical features," which to your credit is the denotation. Biologically, however, we are so identical that the entire concept of race is a social construction - and that's not a bad thing. Practically, however, "race" means a lot more than that. It involves culture, history, shared language, ancestry. It is a prevailing description of a person, not just by appearance, but also by demeanor or personality. These are commonplaces, and some are true and some are baseless, but either way, the concept of “race” as a way to describe a human being represents a lot more than just the physical traits of one's eyes and how close they are to the equator. It is because people don't understand that, that they are quick to dismiss things like a "Muslim race" or a "Jewish Race." I agree, it's a murky line, but using it as an argument like it’s a hard and fast rule is just as stupid as saying: "black people wouldn't get arrested if they just obeyed the law." When a westerner says: “What race are you?” what he’s asking is, “Where are you from that makes you look and act like that?” Which is how we’re conditioned to think about race, and maybe that’s a good thing; we write the definitions and ideally the use of the word would follow what we intend the word to mean, right? Again, that’s a western way of thinking. That’s not how a lot of people, particularly people from third world countries see race. To understand how race works outside the western world, you have to understand how religion and politics do. Politics are what keeps a lot of people under the thumb of oppressive governments, and religion is what pulls the extremist trigger. Politically, and geologically, ISIS, the Syrian refugees, Hezbollah, the YPG, are all from the same region, and physically all those people look the same, even though some are Jewish or Christian – most are Islamic. Ethnically, these people are different. They live different lives, worship different gods, think different thoughts and value different things, but we only identify them as “middle-eastern,” which has, in the media, become a synonym with “Muslim” (often pronounced by politicians as mooslim wtf) which has recently become another synonym with “terrorist” or “refugee.” #301 -
xexion (12/10/2015) [-] Race: each of the major divisions of humankind, having distinct physical characteristics. "people of all races, colors, and creeds" synonyms: ethnic group, racial type, origin, ethnic origin, color "students of many different races" a group of people sharing the same culture, history, language, etc.; an ethnic group. "we Scots were a bloodthirsty race then" synonyms: ethnic group, racial type, origin, ethnic origin, color More Neither of these definitions include religion. We don't care how race works outside the western world. We're using the western english language. It has definitions and preset words for specific meanings and purposes. It doesn't matter what they say over there or how they formulate race, they're not us. Oh and we have no concept outside of stupid tumblr fantasies of changing race, and considering religion is a conscious decision converting from Islam to something else is changing your race. What you're trying to do is change the very definition of the word to suit your purposes. If you make Muslims into a race you lump many different people from many different regions and cultures into one group. An Egyptian Muslim is very different than an Iranian, in almost every way. We identify people as middle-eastern because they come from the middle-east. We generalize asians and northern africans in the same group because we don't know much about them and they're similar. It's the same as 'all asians look the same to me'. #300 -
bultar (12/10/2015) [-] Religion is so deeply impactful to the Middle East that they have – literally – never stopped fighting over it. Muslim/Jewish tension and bloodshed has been common in the Middle East for a long time. If a person wants to do violence to another ethnic group, they would likely consider themselves NOT part of that fucking ethnic group. This brings us to the main argument, and really the only argument that matters: If you asked a Muslim man “what race are you?” he would say “muslim.” For fuck sake people, it’s their identity, it’s their religion, it’s their ethnicity. Why would you try and tell them “no, that’s not a race, it’s a religion, you’re Middle Eastern.” That’s some serious Christopher Columbus shit right there – what the fuck? It’s not even that far-fetched to think about. Taiwanese people identify as Taiwanese, not Chinese, even though they are literally from the same country. To official China, they own Taiwan, but to most people in either country, they are two separate entities and two separate races. This even applies to western countries! I, like most self-respecting Canadians, know I correct the shit out of someone right-the-fuck-away when they accuse me of being an American *Spits*. A Scotsman might just crack ya’ fookin’ little wanka gibblit right in ya smelly hagas-hole if you say “you’re British, right?” and an Irishman would do the same. There are even people in parts of Britain that identify wholly different based on a few hundred-kilometre geological difference. Yes, Americans, Canadian, British and Finland, Norway and Sweden, are typically ‘Caucasian.’ Even I, a Canadian Metis, look Caucasian, but that merely describes my outward appearance. TL;DR: Race means more than your outward appearance, and thinking otherwise is narrow-minded and the wrong way to think about complicated world relations in 2015.
