5 is notable for the job system it has. A lot of customization.
6 is notable for it's story and the exploration. There's a lot of side stuff to accomplish including dungeons and optional chars. The game has the largest cast of a main series title and it allows enough freedom that although there are over ten party members you only have to have 3 to finish the game with if you choose to do so.
9 is enjoyable due to its gameplay, characters, and aesthetics.
I hope you have the opportunity to check out some more of the franchise. It has a lot better to offer than 13.

I did hate it...at first. But, like I said before, this was the first Final Fantasy game I played and I wanted it off my bucket list. But I will say this, I am glad I toughed though it because even if you don't see it, I saw same really good character development and it was good enough to warrant several playthroughs. Again, this is part of those differing of opinions things kicks in and like you said, we can agree to disagree here.

I also commend you resilience to the...expansions. Personally, although I WAS excited that the game was getting sequels...
The second one I can give SOME leeway because they had really decent villain. Although, it really pissed me off how they threw all of main cast into damn side character roles (fucking Fang and Vanille were just given a 3 minute cameo appearance.).
And due to you said you played the third one all the way though, you are superior to me in that regard because I couldn't even be bothered with the final boss. I just looked it up on Youtube because it wasn't even worth beating. 13 made me a fan of the Franchise but this fucking game really makes me question if it's worth being a fan.

Also I don't think it should warrant a warding though (the sequels, yeah stay away from that shit.). If anything, I would tell people to play 13 first if they wanted to try the franchise out, not because it's the best but BECAUSE it's the worst. Kinda like referring Resident Evil 5 first to someone who's interested in the genre. Once you've played though the worse, you got nothing but good times and a greater appreciation once you pick up the other installations

I played all 3 of the 13s. (God that sounds retarded). 100% runs. NB4 if you hated it why did you go through all of them? In the words of the Nostalgia Critic "I remember it so you don't have to." I've enjoyed most of the FFs so I felt it was important to extract everything I could from each in order to defend my positions on them and in this case ward people away from 13 and the abominations it spawned. Why must everyone take a huge shit on the characters from 13? I get it, the game was shitter than shit itself (I can verify, I've played it 4 times already.) but it gave the characters there major development. From do nothing nobodies to actual heros. You wanna shit on the gameplay? I'll join ya! You wanna complain about the story? It was convoluted as hell, like trying to explain photosynthesis while only having a very vague understanding of it yourself. You wanna talk about how despicable the characters are (besides Sazh, of course)? I hated them all within the first 30 minutes. But dammit man, they had some great development. Even that whiny brat Hope. I started off disliking them but at the end I loved them all and they are the only damn reason I found replay value in that game.
