bootmgr is a Windows thing, it means your PC is still trying to boot Windows. Go into BIOS settings, then go to startup/boot settings or whatever it's called on your PC, and then set the USB drive as first priority. Then proceed to try to install Xubuntu. As you're booting it up, it'll prompt you with options, and just select "Install Xubuntu" or whatever it says. From there it'll give you a pretty easy and straightforward install prompt that's kinda Windows-like, but easier

Well if it's important files, save it

if it's just system files, format it

You can always install Windows on it later if you regret

I've already formatted it multiple times: I don't have anything important and I want to start over completely. Could I get a step my step instruction how to install correctly? Or is there a video I could watch?

Plus I tried installing xubuntu and even ubuntu but when putting it in my laptop it'd say "BOOTMGR missing" so when I'd place it in my usb flash drive it and restart it'd have an error either "\Boot\BGR(something like that)" or some other random error. So basically should I install windows 7 then try to launch xubuntu? Or just reformat it again and on the installation screen go on "load drivers" and try to install xubuntu from there?

Help a homie out please!

1. get another computer (like borrow your mother's)
2. follow instructions online to make a bootable usb drive (from the other computer)
3. plug the usb into your broken laptop BEFORE you turn it on.
4. Turn it on and go to the bios (it's typically opened by hitting one of the f keys before windows starts booting)
5. set the usb to be the thing that it tries to boot first
6. restart and run windows installation, doing a fresh install (not repair)

Thanks dude I'll do it once I format this usb, question though. Would you recommend me using an iso download or iso+activator? Because I don't have a product code for windows, or should I use the official setup windows suggest I do and worry about activating it later?
