I'm a six foot one red goatee. I like long walks on the beach and books about Europe. I've been told I look like Jesus.

I made the argument that your "atheist-approved," if you will, denomination of Christianity, if spread, would put the religion's life in peril. You responded in trance by spewing typical atheist rhetoric (eg. "bigot, hate, ilovebuttsex, flying spaghetti monster xd, fairy tale, etc.").

I believe my point has been made and stands at your response. By responding as such, your motives in agreeing with liberalized Christianity is because it would destroy, to your delight, the entire Catholic Church and its outlying sects.
User avatar #796 - cheftimusprime (04/16/2013) [-]
Oh if that's the argument, then I really have no rebuttle, I could care less if the religion floundered, and died. It'll just be replaced by another one, like they always are.

Well if you wanna get down to it, the bible is a book, written by me, claiming it to be the word of god. It was written in a time of little to no understanding and it promotes fear in a deity that isn't even proven to exist. I am very much pro constitution, everything that's been happening in this last decade or so to remove our constitutional rights is appalling. Now, if I have to live my life with Christians and other religions, I'd much rather you guys actually stop being bigoted assholes, which I know not all of you are, but there is a good number and actually love people and leave the judgement of their sins to your god, like those dumb old papers told you to.

Of course you do. Liberalized Christianity is a slippery slope onto no Christianity.
User avatar #787 - mrtwilightsparkle (04/16/2013) [-]
Newsflash: Christianity was originally a very low expectation religion. By studying Paul's (and other apostles) letters that aren't in the Bible(Paul founded the Church, for those who don't know), one realizes that Christianity really only required you to believe in Jesus and be a half-decent person. The devotion and requirements set aside by later institutions were solely because of man's tendency to judge other men. So you wouldn't actually be wrong by saying Liberalized Christianity is more accurate than the conservative methods.

Source: Letters from the Apostles and the rest of the New Testament.
User avatar #799 - byposted (04/16/2013) [-]
You are failing to see that people are not as primitive as they once were. To create and maintain Christianity among the West, the Church needs to show a firm standing in its ideology which cannot be changed. The Bible cannot be rewritten to say that homosexuality isn't vice, for instance.

With this new generation, most are becoming irreligious, or, if religious, just in name like all of these "Christians" on here.
User avatar #819 - mrtwilightsparkle (04/16/2013) [-]
You basically just said that there are no other interpretations of the Bible that are correct outside of the literal interpretations. Sure, diversifying can be bad, such as Gnosticism, but it is required. It really is not primitive to have a basic understanding of Christianity to follow, if anything, it could make things more harmonious. The lack of specific rules to argue over creates less conflict and less stress of following your religion. Up until the rise of the Roman Catholic Church, being a Christian was difficult in its own rights, however actually following your faith and committing acts of Christianity are not difficult. In truth, the only parts of Christianity that were truly Christianity before it was tainted were generosity, loyalty, communion, and a few key parts of the Old Testament, such as love thy neighbor and things such as that. Many conservative Christians fail to see that the Bible is not a modern book, and many topics were written to address problems from the Biblical Era (Such as Women not speaking in Church)
User avatar #834 - byposted (04/16/2013) [-]

Not anymore. In the modern era, you are telling me you wish to have Christianity become an abstract set of kindergarten rules? That worked in the old times simply because most people were illiterate and followed teachings by oral interpretations. For this religion to become something like the below, it will differ not an iota from other spiritualistic religions or believes. The reason why Islam is gaining so much ground in the modern era is because it is anything but liberalized.

"play nice"
"no stealing"
"everybody is friends here"
User avatar #840 - mrtwilightsparkle (04/16/2013) [-]
See, this is an example of someone who is ignorant of what happened with literal interpretations. The Church happened, yes, people were illiterate, but the common public was forced to follow the literal interpretation by law. Anyways, Christianity wouldn't be an "abstract set of kindergarten rules" if all the fake rules applied by those in power to stay ahead hadn't happened. Frankly, if Paul's teachings had remained, then Christianity would be a much more pleasant religion, because Christians didn't quarrel as you think they would.

Oh, and pray tell, what do you mean only a Literal Interpretation would work? Under that idea, you should stone any woman who is in public uncovered, and you have permission to rape whoever you damn well please. It honestly sounds like you're trying to twist things to fit how you want to live.
User avatar #852 - byposted (04/16/2013) [-]
I'm twisting things into reality. Your religion of Christianity is dying, only exceptions are in third world countries and Eastern Europe, and I'm trying to say that religion is not needed anymore for spiritualistic needs.

In order to save yourselves, you need to lead the example of the Muslims. Religion must play a big force in society through dogma lest it loses importance in people's lives and dies. I'm not saying religious governments, but religion must not liberalize. Do not turn into what the OP represented or you may one day tell your grandchildren of the death of the Christian, "fairly tail," as they learned in school.
User avatar #857 - mrtwilightsparkle (04/16/2013) [-]
Kay, I'm done trying to be a decent person. So you're just some conspiracy theory dickwad who has literally no backing to his claims and feels like hot shit because he thinks against the flow. Done here.

And "standard" Christianity is a slippery slope into the Inquisition.
User avatar #822 - byposted (04/16/2013) [-]
Atheism is a believe highly correlated with liberalism.

I am not religious, but why do I not consider myself an atheist? Perhaps it is because of all the insane liberals who surround atheism, destroying society. I'm sure there are a few people like me.
User avatar #958 - hydraetis (04/17/2013) [-]
Religion has caused far more problems in leadership than atheism. Politics, Religion, and Business should NEVER be crossed. Politics + Religion = Extremist societies, Politics + Business = Corrupted as fuck government, Business + Religion = Discrimination.

Let me rephrase.

Now. The first point made in the content seems to be far too much of a personal opinion to actually be considered a plausible argument, as there are indeed Pokemon games where the hero may only have a partnership with one particular Pokemon, such as in on of the Pokemon Ranger games, I believe.
Those in the Pokemon world typically have a choice of how many Pokemon they wish to capture, and what to do with them. So, really, it could go either way; Build a bond, or have a big ol' family.

As far as evolution goes, I think it's better to have some Pokemon not evolve. It makes things different, and I a lot of cases, make sense, as with legendaries. They are everlasting, as with their age; why should they evolve? Also, there are certain Pokemon whose evolution depends upon the Pokemon's relationship with their trainer. Again, these processes are chosen using a logic that, in my eyes, only makes sense.

I'm sorry I love you
#399 - cheftimusprime (04/16/2013) [-]
This is a far stronger argument, I personally like Digimon more, not to say that Pokemon didn't change my life when I was introduced to it, I just have a particular fondness for Digimon. I wouldn't try to tell anyone that one is better than the other, I was influenced by both series growing up.

I love you too.
