Fuck those other weenies. You're right. I've been depressed, maybe people deal with it differently, but I got through it and over it. And this is exactly how.
Laying around, feeling defeated, waking up in a bad mood, it can only last so long before it's too much. Emotions are controllable and depression is a state of mind. Nobody said it's easy, but the only way I know to defeat it is to fuck it right in the ass, go hard and stop giving a shit about how much your life sucks. Work harder, run harder, study harder.
Then eventually, after telling yourself every day, that you're going to have a great day and do your best, you realize that it's not so hard anymore. You've been doing it all this time. I hate it so much when people tell me it's too hard. The way I see it, it only ends two ways; you get better or you kill yourself. Stop fuckin wasting your time and choose one.
"Emotions are controllable" You really might want to patent that, you'd be rich.
If people could control how they felt; there would never be wars, no complaints, everyone would just "get over it".
Ever heard of "Take a breath and count to ten"?
ScottP instead of fighting, just separate for a few hours. Hit the bar, take a shower, mull it over and think about how important the fight really is. Solved without shots fired 90% of the time. It's all about habit. I'm not talking some psychopath telepathy shit here, just self-control.
I have heard about it, but I don't really have to deal with that sort of thing. One of the perks I guess.
Holy crap. Imagine all the arguments between couples that could be avoided! Imagine all the conflict in general
No, you don't get it. Depression =/= sadness. While it is normal to feel self-pity, sadness, and angst when young, that is not depression. Depression is debilitating. Depression is not getting out of bed for work/school for no reason. Depression is crying when there's nothing wrong. Depression makes you feel like there's nowhere forward to go from where you are
hence, the high rates of suicide among those with depression.
No, you don't "get it," I wanted to tell
to "shut the fuck up," on behalf of whomever wrote that post, but that'd just be hypocritical, as I don't know what you're going through. I hope you have a better evening. I know I am; it isn't always crap.
That's so wrong dude. Sure it's not worth wallowing in self pity but it's good to vent every now and then. Another common misconception that stops people speaking up is that everyone is depressed, that's wrong. This just causes confusion and will lead a lot of people to feel even worse.
