Ya know there are some people who might be against gay marriage simply because they think it is morally "wrong". You do not have to be religious to have the OPINION that homosexual marriage is "wrong".
Only put quotes around the word wrong, because I do not think it is. Not that you might care but I once read in my ethics textbook about a priest giving his opinion on homosexual marriage. He said, and i'm putting this in my own words...
It seems the gay community has three options. 1: Have an unhealthy sexual desire by having different partners. The priest didn't agree with that. 2: Start a life of celibacy. Again the priest didn't agree with that because most straight people can't maintain a life of celibacy. 3: Allow homosexuals to get married because in marriage they could have a healthy sex life and share intimacy with one another which marriage was supposed to be.
BULLSHIT you say?! Book was called "From Christ to the World". Located in the Chapter of sex. Check it out sometime if you would like.
perhaps not morally wrong so much as unnatural. but unnaturalness is debatable. I personally don't believe it's right to be gay/lesbian but i rub a couple out to some babes making out too. Just recently actually. so? It's not the lesbianism in pornography that we enjoy, its the attractiveness of two females, the sexuality; beauty of female bodies instead of one girl and one hairy, grunting bro, convulsing for 5 minutes. (not all pr0n of course)We people can be hypocritical, it's in our nature. I don't like the idea of gay/lesbian marriage under God, but i respect their rights as humans, and their right to a happy, monogamous partnership. BUT if they expect understanding from the rest of the world, they must also show understanding towards the people who think homosexuality is a sin. Put up with them. Listen to them if you want to be listened to. There's ignorant close-minded christians, but there's also compassionate caring ones too. More so of the latter in my opinion. Sure, even if i think it's sinful, who cares? I wont judge them, but i also will not support gays. I have a few gay friends, and they're great people! They ask me if i'm okay with them and i honestly reply "I don't know" because i'm not sure if i should be more actively "not okay" with it or if i'm fine just the way i am. But as of right now, i believe that everybody is entitled to their opinion. Please don't hate on each other. It only makes the people who argue about hate being a part of the argument win. It's not. Religion doesn't hate, it pities. Sure, stoning homosexuals in the bible is pretty exaggerated, but even if you think it's sinful, it's not their fault. Sin isn't controllable, so for those close-minded peeps out there, just leave them alone and you'll feel better. But homosexuals don't hate either. Your concept is so new and we're just xenophobic by nature. But society is "progressive" and afraid of being labeled "intolerant" that it'll probably end up being legalized anyway
But explain to me how someone can find it morally wrong when all that gays want to do is be together.
