Thats true, but come the store knows that California is full of large people, so the stores keep their prices the same. It's annoying. especially when they don't make a shirt in all sizes (graphic t-shirts)

S-XXL is the set price here, 3XL-4XL are $3-4 more. 5XL up requires a special store like Men's Warehouse or Big&Tall. I don't know where the female whales go though.
