Long time ago, my aunt has one in her old bedroom at my grandmas. So 30+ years ago, also it might be a Norwegian thing considering both the on in the OP and my aunts is Norwegian.

I am Norwegian, just living in Canada, but since I am not 30 years old it would make sense that I haven't seen it .

Interestingly enough, all usages are valid numerals. You could even use IIIII instead of V, or IIIIIIIIII instead of X, although usually it was just IIII instead of IV or VIIII instead of IX

and instead of M in roman numerals i could write IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

It's supposed to be IV because you can only repeat the same character a max of 3 times, but some clocks put IIII to avoid people comfusing it with VI since some clocks flip the characters

IV is an abreviation of IVPPITER (a.k.a jupiter, king of all gods). The superstitious peasantry was very much reluctant to use it as not to invoke their most important god over nothing.
IIII is a valid, albeit inplicitly pleibian way to write 4 in roman numbers

Ouch. That can be the downside of the working for a medium-size business, they want to compete so badly they can get dishonest or push their employees way too hard for their pay grade. That's kind of where I am now, so I can empathize.
