We were wanderers, hunters and gatherers from the beginning. Slowly, we retired from the wild and relocated into towns and villages. We looked to the stars and sought navigation from them. We figured out that there are laws of nature, and they had to be figured out. A tool was made for discoveries, we called it science. Science was used to vanquish the impossible. The story of science, civilisation and cosmic evolution always blows be away. If only more children looked up to great scientists.

Its a [large] rock almost 10 lightyears away travelling 34000 miles per hour and people have managed to shoot a probe with limited navigational abilities off the Earth with such precision as to swing around several planetary bodies in sequence, speeding up each time such that escape velocity was reached at a particular point in each planet's circumference and rotation around the sun and end up in three dimensional space exactly where everyone thought the comet would be 10 years ago. It was a long-shot of literally astronomical odds and it worked. Now tests can be done one the chemical make-up of the comet to gain insight into how Earth's biosphere was formed.

28 light minutes not 10 light years. It took 10 years to get there. It wasn't going at the speed of light.

I didn't mean to crop it poorly like that. I did that in paint and had it small, so I didn't see the white space.

and the fact is that to support intelligent life as we know it. and as far as we know it to be possible the factors listed above had to be perfect. while you can go all out and claim evolution would have blaa blaa blaa. the fact is that if the tides were not regulated then farming would have been near impossible which would force us to stay as hunter gatherers and if the outer planets of our solar system were not there then the meteor strikes would pretty much reset the entire thing every month stopping any sort of life outside of bacteria to survive on this planet.

the size of the planets (for instance saturn) needs to be optimal so it stops some of the biggest meteors from crashing to earth. sentient life was possible because the moon that handles our tides. allowing for agriculture and for people to stay on one spot for more longer than not.

also while our brain is not fit to calculate these things we have computers and other things to assist us in calculating these things
User avatar #184 - casinoer (11/04/2014) [-]
Well if this wasn't a prefect solar system for intelligent life, then no one would be around to ask those questions.
And therefor no Intelligent life to think of a god.
And if there is any other intelligence in the Universe... would they say their god made all this possible?
But if the circumstances had been a little bit different, intelligent life would probably still have arisen at some time in the Earths history. Just it's properties would have been different.

User avatar #3 to #2 - sciencexplain (09/19/2014) [-]
If you like to educate, you should add a scientific paragraph for each one that you can to help explain what is happening and why certain stuff can't be done and that. I explained one on your first content, so I think people would appreciate further information.
