Actually, depending on the explosion, it an kill the Hulk. In the comic series there is "Maestro," the future Hulk who has become tyrannical and has many treasures of heroes he's defeated in a ravaged world. The Hulk/Banner of our time defeats him by sending him off into the heart of an atom bomb test explosion, incinerating even the mighty (but old) Hulk.
There's also the newer comic series "Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe." He loses against the Hulk but afterwards Hulk sleeps and Deadpool sneaks onto the sleeping form, Now Bruce Banner, and then kills him. I remember that this was done with blades. I don't remember how. I think he cut his head off before he could react, though.

Thus... Hulk can die. But it's very bloody hard to do.
