If you could theoretically decrease wind speed, the temperature would peak in extreme areas, but overall you probably wouldn't see a difference.

Wind is caused by air moving from a high pressure zone to a low pressure zone. so unless you can change the air pressure. you cannot slow down the wind. otherwise trees would literally be the worst thing on the planet because of all the leaves

How do we know that platnium isn't actually super common in the Avatar universe, or at least more common than here in ours? Hell, titanium is like the eighth most common mineral in the world, and yet it's one of the rarest in commercial uses due to the extremely specific conditions necessary to mine/refine it. Could just be that it's more plentiful/easier to get.
