Norwegian faggot who aims for comment level 400. I guess I can function as a Norwayexplain if people got questions about Norway.

Despite my name, I had no intention of becoming a themed account, and probably never will.

1200 Kcal is the current recommendation for obese people. That's what the literature says. You can have a different opinion, and it's possible you're right, but there's no data to back it up. Also, it's been that long since I've logged in here. I'm kind of busy lately.
User avatar #161 - captnnorway (07/06/2015) [-]
I still wont believe that without seeing your sources. You might be correct, but I'm not about to buy the whole "You don't show your sources so you're wrong, but when I don't show my sources it's cool because I can name em".

Anyway, I'll stick to recommending 500 deficit, because it's very achieveable and gives a steady weightloss. It's easy to mix with working out i.e. you eat more on the days you work out to which means you get enough caleories to get you through both your day and your exercise. Weight loss isn't everything, you gotta work out at the same time or else you'll just be a nasty slightly less fat fatass. . Also for most people it's as easy as "I'll just don't drink any more soda and restrict myself to only candy in the weekends" or similar things.

I understand how painful the process of globalization is, and because of deep-seated nationalism and pride, it will take longer than it should, and that means that sizable portions of many generations will end up suffering.

I take some pride in my country (USA), but I would be more proud of a united world, one that could put petty bullshit aside and start finding aliens to kill instead.

Globalization is inevitable, because we now live in a global world. I don't think that protecting certain jobs is a good investment. I believe that making sure people who lose their jobs are able to survive while they learn new skills is though.

There are so many changes going on it our world economies. We have unprecedented mass production, an aging population, growing migration problems (which will be getting much worse as sea levels rise) and much more. Corruption is still rampant, whether traditional, or through lobbying etc. Therefore it is very hard to say what is really killing jobs. How many fisherman and farmers suffer in GB because around the same time as the EU was forming, it became cheaper to buy fish from south east Asia etc. So much is happening so fast, people conclude something is THE cause, when really, its only A cause.

Problem is that globalization is like a run-away train, and the Trade agreements are shitty bandaids to try to bring the US up-to-par. If we tried to avoid globalized trade, and became super isolationist to protect manufacturing, then the US economy would end up going to shit anyway. NAFTA killed plenty of jobs, but they were gonna die anyway.

The problem isnt free-trade, but lack of investment in quality education in the US. School in the US doesn't prepare you for the workforce. It lives in a bubble, and as the economy and job market evolve (which they will always do) the system isn't keeping pace.
User avatar #376 - captnnorway (07/05/2015) [-]
Norway is pretty protectionistic, and we're doing pretty good. I know we have shit ton of oil, but frankly it feels wrong to say that Norway is a good country only because of the oil. I feel like it's the same as to say "Ye, you got a college degree, but that doesn't matter because you were born in a rich familiy.

Again, without being a world famous economist, I believe protecting the work force inside your own country is more profitable than outsourcing, and thus globalisation leads to poverty look at Great Britain, their farming and fishing industry is pretty much dead because they had to open up to EU and suddenly it wasn't profitable to fish in Britain anymore.

Plenty of jobs will go away, obviously, but there are still plenty jobs that require a human to control at least for now and those jobs are important to protect.

Yes, America needs socialism.
User avatar #186 - lulzrebornagain (07/05/2015) [-]
This is fucking sarcasm btw.
User avatar #189 - rapterjesus (07/05/2015) [-]
it shouldn't be. We already have a good amount of socialism in America. Of course, if you demonize socialism because 'muh swedens' or 'but communism!' you might need to do more reading.
User avatar #191 - lulzrebornagain (07/05/2015) [-]
If you think America needs more socialism, I'm not even going to bother talking with you.
User avatar #192 - rapterjesus (07/05/2015) [-]
We need better socialism, not more.
User avatar #201 - lulzrebornagain (07/05/2015) [-]
No you want more socialism, there is no debate in this. Good day.
User avatar #207 - rapterjesus (07/05/2015) [-]
Lol, i just said I didn't want more, how can you interpret that as the exact opposite.

I want reform of the current socialist policies so they actually work well, I want them to be more flexible so they aren't abused. etc.

Drug prices are higher in the US often because it is ILLEGAL for Medicare to negotiate drug prices, so the Drug companies set them stupidly high, and Medicare has to pay. Negotiating prices is a very capitalist thing wouldn't you say?

I want less regulation on stupid shit, and the regulation on the important stuff needs to be simplified and reworked to avoid loopholes.

God forbid tax loopholes are closed so that hard working families who pay 30% income tax don't have to watch Millionaires boast about their 14% income tax rate.

I could go on, but you said you were done, so you might not have even read this. If you do though, understand that such word-twisting partisanship is what is tearing the US apart. If you are so sure in your beliefs, that you assign people their opinions without even knowing them, you corrupt the process of dialogue.

User avatar #210 - lulzrebornagain (07/05/2015) [-]
Nothing you have said sounds like socialism so far, maybe you need to find a new way to categorize these sort of things...
#324 - angelusprimus (07/05/2015) [-]
No, what he is talking about is democratic socialism.
Problem is that in america socialism became such a bad word that people actually don't know what it actually is.
Democratic socialism isn't against capitalism, or for redistribution of wealth. Its for developing a system in which everyone who works, no matter what job, can make a decent living. And those that can't (not those that won't) are provided for.
Its also for creating an economic climate where people and companies are free to make a good profit, but not exploit the customers.
If word socialism bothers you, you can use term "compasionate capitalism".
#375 - captnnorway (07/05/2015) [-]

oh please, stop using "le socialism is now a bed wurd" argument. Don't insult me like that, I know what socialism is.

No shit I don't want that at all

>Its for developing a system in which everyone who works, no matter what job, can make a decent living. And those that can't (not those that won't) are provided for.
So you mean socialism and welfare state, gotcha

I love how you guys try to sugar-coat your agenda. Maybe you live in Europe, but most people aren't fond of getting raped even more by the government in terms of tax dollars.

Currently I'm 325 levels ahead of you, unless you're some coward who posts as anon because you're afraid of red thumbs. Also, even though I lost like 200 thumbs because of my opinion on immigrations, I have still gone in plus today. If I keep this up I'll get to rank 400 in 90 days. Averaging slightly less than 1 level per day it seems.

I'm working on a wemb cringe comp. Having slight issues because WoD just came out, so my attention has gone somewhere else, but I should get it up tomorrow. The thing is, I make sure to watch through everything I post, to make sure there's no **** or similar in it, and I honestly can't watch more than 2-3 videos back to back. I'm unsure how many to post in one comp though, 10 seems like a good number, because if someone actually manages to watch 10 straight they really really need to go outside to clear their mind. I don't wanna be responsible for any school shootings or similar.
