Actually, the difference is that Theistic/Spiritual Satanists consider Satan and his Demons real, benevolent beings who are representations of these traits, and LaVeyan Satanists who only see Satan as a metaphor

The goal and principles of Satanism remain the same in literally every branch but Devil-Worshipers, who are ostracized. The only differences between them is exactly how hey view Satan and exactly how they achieve perfection.

I remember I played a campaign as Lawful Good Paladin. The party was mostly made up of non-humans (I was the only human) in a world where Humans and Dwarves were the dominant caste and everyone else was either second class or outright subjugated. The party tried to set up a plot to overthrow the empire, but let me know about it trying to enlist me.

Being Lawful, and having no strong ties to the elves while being brought up in a kingdom where slavery was not inherently "evil", naturally I ended up ratting out the party to the King and getting them all imprisoned. Kappa.

Right or wrong has no relevance. People do these things instinctively, and aren't automatically able to perceive the best way to display their feelings. And demeaning others is, of course, douchey as shit and those people can fuck off.
With writing, you at least get to use words to describe the things you're trying to purvey. It's both beautiful and infuriating when others fuck up what you're trying to show them.

Tough I guess you might also have that problem, depending on what you write. Death of the author and all that.

Examples of how I've played the Chaotic Alignments:

Chaotic Good: "I use Speak with Animals to teach the bear cub how to make minor explosives out of his own feces! Those bandits will be so fucking confused with all the randomly exploding bear-droppings around their camp that they'll have to leave!"

Chaotic Neutral: "This bastard beat his daughter to death! ... Is that enough of an excuse to cut out his tongue and magically attach it to the inside of his anus? Please? I'll even feed him burritos afterwards!"

Chaotic Evil: "That guy has a Nice hat. I bluff the man into thinking it's actually my hat! *Succeeds, and gets handed the hat* Thank you good sir. *Stabs the man in the middle of the street* Don't touch my fucking hat!"

Chaotic Stupid: "I roll to Omnomnom our gnome bard. He just won't stop talking! *roll fails, and I gently lick the gnome's ear* 'Tanbo not like you, so Tanbo will lick and suck and bite and swallow until you be quiet.' *Gnome bard shuts up around my character, and Tanbo has no idea it wasn't because he was intimidating*"
User avatar #103 - Icedangel (09/23/2014) [-]
I had a CN druid once.. She tried to be 'good' but did things mostly in bad ways. Like 'Someones attacking my forest! I should murder them all!'

She was a wannabe dragon rider with a Komodo Dragon familiar. High wisdom, low intelligence. She was great. I miss her.
User avatar #90 - renespar (09/23/2014) [-]
Chaotic Neutral is an interesting alignment just because you can basically do anything and just go "eh" if you're playing a non serious game, chaotic neutral to me is just "chaotic fun" The dumb one is actually usually chaotic evil, they are so fucking boring 99% of the time, it's basically a game of "how long until the assassin backstabs us?" hell, at least most Anti-Paladins are less that and more "how long until he tries to subjugate everyone"
User avatar #82 - duthar (09/22/2014) [-]
Chaotic Neutral is, as I understand it, a self-serving alignment that doesn't enjoy the brutal whims of Chaotic Evil.

I had tried my hand at a Chaotic Neutral lich. He just wanted immortality so he had all the time in the world to pursue knowledge, and turning undead was the best way to do it. He was reluctant to kill people, but god help you if he thought you were holding out on him with information or spells.

But in the older D&D editions, I recall it being stated Chaotic Neutral was the alignment mostly made up of madmen.
User avatar #83 - captainfuckitall (09/22/2014) [-]
Mhmm, that's pretty much it. Jack Sparrow is chaotic neutral, for example. What many people mistake though is that Chaotic Neutrals are not bad people, nor are they even 'crazy' people, they just do their own thing. I tend to play a CN Cleric with that same motif, a love of knowledge and desire for immortality, but not caring about much else aside from what achieves these ends.
User avatar #42 - dndxplain (09/22/2014) [-]
people think it's "lel so randum" when it's actually "dude... what if.. trees sigh"
User avatar #189 - commontroll (09/23/2014) [-]
I look at chaotic neutral as more of "I'm looking out for myself and my loved ones in the end, whoever else is harmed doesn't really matter too much, and I'll do whatever it takes to keep myself and said loved ones breathing."

If that means helping some righteous paladin slay some demon then that's what it takes, but they're more likely run when the going gets tough. They're also not necessarily above doing terrible things for those motivations. Essentially, good alignments feel a sense of duty to the greater good, neutrals act out of simple human instincts and desires but not being just animalistic, while evil acts out of self preservation and a desire for power at the cost of their humanity.
User avatar #55 - infiniteinsanity (09/22/2014) [-]
I play chaotic neutral as " i want to kill these people but our tank will kill me if i do and i can't fight him, so imma make them fight me first so then i can kill them" am i doing it right or should i swap his alignment to something more suitable?
User avatar #56 - dndxplain (09/22/2014) [-]
sounds like lawful neutral.

chaotic neutral is legitimately someone without goals or aspirations who are just content to go with the flow. they don't get into many fights because almost nothing bothers them.

Personally, I think the best characters are ones who basically follow their alignment to the letter except for a certain fatal flaw in their personality.

Like...a Lawful Good Paladin with a greedy streak
A True Neutral Druid that enjoys dishing out justice
Chaotic Evil Alchemist who loves animals

That type of thing. It's very interesting to see the shenanigans your characters get into and the way they not only grow as a characters, but actual people from the trials they face in game and dealing with their faults. A Chaotic Neutral Mage who tries to justify going out of his way to save a family because their daughter reminds him of a childhood friend is a very peculiar thing

>Implying artists give a flying fuck what you think.

Art is 99% psychological, it's what you think, what you feel, and the 1% percent is how you apply that. Application is a massive part of the whole, despite being such a minuscule percentage, because it's how you render your thoughts to the audience. Artists are extremely fucking self conscious about their application, despite it having almost no relevance to the underlying ideas that makes the foundation of the piece.
Every stroke of the pen solidifies more and more of the ideas in your head, until it's finished. When the application -- which demands fucktonnes of practice, years and years and years of learning your style -- doesn't match the idea, then people get self-conscious about their work.

TL;DR - people aren't self-demeaning because they want to impress you, they're sensitive because they're showing you something precious to them.
User avatar #8 - captainfuckitall (09/22/2014) [-]
You seem a little mad, friend. Let's see if we can diffuse some of that misplaced anger.

Most artists DO care about what others think unless they immediately destroy it right away. By the very fact they put it up for people to view they want some type of validation or fame; and even at the very lowest, where they really don't care what people might have to say about it, they still care that it's being said.

However, I didn't mention a single thing about artists in my comment.

Good for them. However, insulting yourself to show sensitivity isn't exactly the way to do it. I'm sensitive about my writings but I don't think of insulting people who compliment them, nor do I beg that people enjoy it and hope they soothe my ego.
User avatar #10 - alexandrz (09/22/2014) [-]

Due to your pointlessly rude comment on the post "Jesus ain't got time for **** ",

I have gone through 20 of your previous comments and thumbed them all down.

You're also a stupid, unfunny, tryhard feelfag. Exactly the kind of user that this site is infamous for.
User avatar #467 to #466 - captainfuckitall (08/25/2013) [-]
I wasn't pointlessly rude. If you read it more carefully, you would find I am not insulting your god or faith, but rather, the people who spread it about; and even they are just doing it to themselves, while I am mearly making an observation

It's ironic you call me tryhard, considering you just went through the time to thumb-down my last 20 comments as if it would have any effect on me personally or my ranking here. It's also odd you call me stupid, considering you were the one who read it uncorrectly. And I think the fact I have so many comment thumbs anyways (including my own jesus comment) speaks to the point that I am, in fact, quite hilarious. "Feelfag", is that supposed to be a derogatory term for someone who is passionate about certain things? If so, then I take pride in it, as it is only through passion that things grow.

Considering you are pretentious, arrogant, immature, and without a sense of humour; you fit the criteria for '12 year old funnyjunker' far better than I do.

It's ironic how you talk about avoiding situations, when your very comment isn't needed considering I already explained, about five times now, that I do not mean you must 'abuse' your children in order to get good results. My comment, and all the comments afterwards, were about how when compassion and support fails you must turn to punishment and discipline, including simply smacking your kid upside the head

Perhaps you should read more and get better informed before jumping to opinions, yes?
