Try working towards what you love first, and if that fails, just get a regular dayjob so that you can do your high end cooking at night either as a second job, or even as a hobby.

You will build work experience with it in addition to your degree, making you look like a hotshot with a fat resume full of your work.

That way when you apply to work at another high end cooking restaurant, your chances of getting the job will go through the roof and there will be almost no competition.

The same applies to the gaming industry, by the way.
