It sounds like you should be focused on losing weight more then anything right now. But if you're really focused on increasing your bench, you should be working the 1-4 rep range. That's the biggest strength gaining area there is.

losing weight is no problem for me. I could drop 20-30 pounds easy this month. I want to add strength first then lose weight.

Hmm, have you tried gaining weight? The bench press can be effected a lot by body weight. The extra surrounding tissues act almost like a brace and help the joints.

Also, you're only 17. You've still probably got some natural weight to put on in the next 5 years or so.

Changing it up helps regardless of how you do it. Like I said, try doing pause reps with high weight low volume sets.
