Apparently I can't reply to comradewinter so I'll leave my comment here instead.

I never recommended that you starve yourself, but what I'm saying is that having a calorie deficit never equals weight gain, it always equals weight loss, I've heard people say that men should never go below 1800 calories a day because then you won't lose weight, but is just bullshit. I can easily eat 1200-1500 calories as a male without putting my life at risk. It is true that your metabolism slows down when you eat low amounts of calories, but you will still burn more than if you ate more food. It's as simple as that.

Here's the first article I found when I Googled it: www.aworkoutroutine.com/starvation-mode/

Starving will make you thinner, but it will also be too much of a hassle to bother with. Let alone the fact you will face heavy repercussions as your calorie burning will go down to preserve energy, and your organs will weaken. You're essentially jumping down a 30 foot cliff to avoid having to walk around. Post any of this on any fitness forum and you'll be the hearty laughing stock of the entire website.

Also, as you starve, your calorie burning will go down, as stated earlier. However it takes much more time for it to go up, so even if you starve yourself down to the ideal weight, once you start eating normal again you'll be struggling to keep the weight up. Hence why you should never starve.

... Your muscle has far more functions than looking good, you know. It will be more tiring to excercise, you will get lazier, and without proper training your calorie burning will go down. If you don't know this, that's another reason why you struggle to lose weight.

You base your diet on two bodybuilders who have a strict regime, and you don't think the reason they stay healthy is because they do excessive training. That's your problem. These two also use supplements in lieu of eating, which can make your muscles large, but invariably make you more prone to health issues.

And no, it has never been proven that skipping breakfast is a good thing. Your proof is as well established as vaccines causing autism. Intermittment fasting is also only recommended for people with average body weight who want to be thin. You're essentially trying to sprint before you can crawl, which is stupid in any sort of exercise.

When did I say that the Hodge Twins were my only source for IF? My point was that the HodgeTwins are strong and ripped and they do IF so your point about losing muscle is just not true. I have plenty of other sources, I've read a LOT about IF, I don't just find one half-assed article claiming something that is too good to be true and then base my entire existence on that one article, I do extensive research before doing things.

And yes, skipping breakfast has been proven to be healthier, but I'm not going to bother and just breast feed you links, you can Google it yourself like I have.

By the way, what do all your arguments come from? What do you base them on? If it's just what someone told that one time it's not very strong arguments, for example, all my gym class teachers has at one point told the class that starvation mode makes people fat and that eating breakfast prevents you from gaining weight because you hinder the body from going into starvation mode. However, when I did my own research on the matter a year ago I realized that starvation mode was bullshit. They actually claimed that if you eat more you will lose more weight, but it's as simple as calories in, calories out. Everyone knows that the jews in Auschwitz went into starvation mode and didn't lose weight and everyone knows that if you're stuck on an island for a few months you won't get skinny because you don't eat enough, right?

When the kcals are burned, your body moves onto muscle before body fat, which will make you proportionally fatter. Hence that's why you don't eat twice a day.

Also, you're damn stupid for skipping breakfast. If you do, your muscle will blaze faster than you can imagine, your organs will get weaker, and you won't lose any additional body fat. Every single instructor, teacher or whatnot will make it perfectly clear that you never skip breakfast. Not knowing this makes it clear you really don't care much for details in anatomy, which might explain how you can only lose 11 lbs per month while being overweight.
User avatar #227 - cannibalvegan (08/31/2014) [-]
First off, I'm not a bodybuilder so I don't care if lose muscle. I understand if you do strength training then you might be scared to lose your gains, but I don't have any gains to begin with.

Second, skipping breakfast has been proven to be healthier than eating breakfast, especially when it comes to weight loss. How can you explain that IF is one of the best ways to trim down body fat if skipping breakfast is what Satan wants us to do? Because that's exactly what IF is, you can for example eat for the first time of the day at 12:00 PM, then eat whatever amount of calories you have in your diet plan up until 8:00 PM. Then you fast for 16 hours until 12:00 PM the next day (While skipping breakfast in the process.) and repeat. You can also do 1-2 24 hour fasts a week if you prefer it that way.

Just take a look on the interwebz and you will see that skipping breakfast is not a bad idea, just look at the YouTube channel FastingTwins and you'll see for yourself that bodybuilders can do what I do without screwing up their gains.

The whole idea is creating a snacking routine so you constantly burn calories and get new ones. Thus you don't go hungry, and you lose weight. Having as little success as you have, you should try different approaches, and that's a good start.
User avatar #225 - cannibalvegan (08/31/2014) [-]
That's what I mean with myth, you don't burn more calories with that routine than IF, but the fact that you don't go hungry is factor, but it doesn't work for me because I simply need bigger meals. I much prefer having two 800 calorie meals a day instead of several 300 calorie meals and I burn more calories in the process.

And yes, before I haven't had success, but this time it is working alright for me. (The last time I lose maybe 4 lbs the first month before I slipped up, but now I've lose 11.) I feel like shit and all that, but I feel less shitty than the last time. Then I just ate 3 regular meals every day.

Right now, I just skip breakfast so I feel extremely hungry in the morning, but after those few hours it's easier and that's the IF plan I follow now, so instead of fasting for 8 hours and eating for 16 like the average person I eat for 8 hours and fast for 16 hours.
