I have a very very strange and diverse family history and upbringing.
Too long to write here.

that's wrong. the deus ex machina lion turtle granted the power to aang, and he taught it to korra. the rest hadn't learnt it.

The rest might not have accessed it but they did have the power to do it. Rava is the one with the power to energybend the avatar is just a conduit for it. Spirits are capable of energybending in the spirit world, it predates all other forms of bending and the knowledge for it was lost until the last lionturtle gave Aang the knowledge

a friend of mine was in a similar situation. The issue were the uncles, this girl had no father since the family disapproved that the mother was in a relationship with someone who wasnt part of the religion.

Once they found out, the mother defended my friend. My friend saw them beat up both his girlfriend and mother, after he stood up to defend them he got kicked out of the house.

It's a fucking shame bullshit like this still exists

Aye it's a horrible thing that people, especially girls, are restricted in this way. I found the whole thing tragic from the start.. I did stay with her for another two years after that though and had a few really good times with her parents, they were good people, just from another world I guess. It's tough

Do you think he would've stabbed her if he found out you two fucked? Iranians are fucking crazy I guess.
#119 - cakefaceify (12/21/2014) [-]
It's difficult to say. The parents themselves weren't nearly as bad as the stereotype suggests. They were both doctors and extremely smart individuals, very rational as well. They were however very influenced by the rest of the family. The issue wasn't so much the parents, but I think them worrying what the rest of the family back in Iran would think of the whole thing. I do find it kind of funny and horrifying at the same time that I have had sex with her on the same table they were doing the questioning over though

how did she react to the knife thing though?

were the parents chillbros after?
#121 - cakefaceify (12/21/2014) [-]
She was fucking terrified and with good reason of course, so was I. I didn't even hear from her for a few days after that until I saw her in school, normally we would've talked every day all the time basically, but yeah didn't see her until ran into each other in school and it was the craziest thing, never seen someone so scared before, it was heartbreaking tbh. I did whatever I could to help

And you should learn difference between first generation product and a lab prototype before you start shitting on other people on internet.

I was merely stating that the technology for mind controlled limbs has been done before in reply to anon's comment. He stated they were in their own category, they aren't. Nothing in this comment had anything to do with this being the first generation product or not. Your other comment - good rebuttal, I accept it and thumbed it up.

Individual technologies have been around a long time, yes. But integrated and scaled for mass production like this is, not even close.
First steam engine that was produced on a steady level, and commercially available, was Newcomen's. Even though some appeared nearly 100 years earlier but were not efficient and simple enough to be commercially built.
This is the first generation, everything before this were small scale prototypes.

2003, the year that chimps were trained to control a robotic arm using only their brain. Do some research before you spout shit on the internet.

I never actually mentioned the rewriting bit in my original comment sorry, but yeah, a true AI would have the potential ability of rewriting itself which is pretty much the reason it's so risky. A truly self-aware computer means that it can control every aspect of itself, something that the human brain can't even come remotely close to.
