People With Anime...
It really bothers me when someone like him just insults an entire group, as if it's an argument against their opinions and political affiliations.

We don't know his religion!
Can cats tell their reflection in the mirror? Yeah, didn't think so.
They do not have self awareness. Why is there an even argument about it?

Are you really arguing online about a cat's religion? People amazes me every day more.
You should all be doing taxes, i tell ya.
Well, to be fair, that's kinda iffy.
I've never seen a cat address a mirror.
I have had dogs, which have been proven to be rather intelligent, due to a minor experiment, where I believe one showed an understanding of the process of elimination (Trained to retrieve certain toys upon request, was requested to pick a toy it didn't know, after a while it brought the one it didn't know out of a pile of ones it knew, and also knew weren't right.), and none of the dogs ever even looked in a mirror.
And before people wonder why I bring up mirrors, whether or not an animal recognizes itself in a mirror is one of the main tests for self-awareness.
dude this is freaking me out
I'm looking into it and from what I can tell the mirror test isn't always a 100% answer. They show tendencies of being self aware but don't find their reflections interesting because of lack of scent, or don't understand it at all. It's not entirely definitive and open to interpretation.
That's what I've dug up, and tbh I'm pretty stoned and just freaking over the concept
Well, to be fair, an animal uses it's sense of smell for identification more.
It would be like if you found something that smelled like you.
You wouldn't be nearly as interested, because it doesn't look or sound like you.
But, a mirror interests you, because it looks like you, and when you make a sound, it looks like your reflection does too.
I've only had two dogs ever think their reflection was another dog. One had never seen his reflection, and is very protective of my grandparents, so he barked at his reflection for being near them (he realized it was himself real quick, so he doesn't do it anymore).
The other one was raised with his brother since he was a pup, and was depressed when his brother died. Every time he sees a mirror he thinks it's his brother and starts crying for him (even looking behind the mirror for him).
It's as painful to watch as it sounds.
just because you're capable of self awareness doesn't mean you've acheived it
