I know this image is spammed now, but yeah, it's what MLP has come to these days. And in reality, it's personal preference to like the show if you do come to watch it. No one will hate you for it if it isn't your thing.

I don't like it for the simple fact "Being nice and having friends" is what makes the win all their issues.
I mean, sure, every action movie has the good guys winning suddenly because fuck logic, they're the good guys. But at least the people they're facing has superior firepower that made fighting them difficult.
From what I gathered, that move in your gif must've been a one-shot deal and at the very end of the episode.
If it wasn't a one shot deal, they won due to something utterly stupid.
The only episode I desperately tried to watch was the one where Spike goes super dragon due to some shit like greed and the only way he went back was because one fucking pony talked to him. What in the fucking shit?

In the gif specifically, that battle was hyped up for quite a while, with the three princesses, who were basically gods, giving that purple pony all their power to keep safe from a tyrannical centaur demon from hell (literally) who absorbs magic. This guy finds her, and blows up her home, and goes into a huge dbz style fight until he blackmails her with her friends to get her to give up. And yes, while the ending was a shoe-horned in dues-ex that one-shotted the demon and made the purple pony a princess, that was mostly Hasbro doing their usual product placement mixed with time constraint. Not saying you're wrong in not liking it. I kind of was disappointed with it too, but that's just me.
And yeah, in that episode with Spike, the pony who persuaded him to change back he has been crushing on since episode 1, so she had a bit of leverage. Spike is also an idiot responsible for some of the most cringeworthy stuff in the show... not many people liked that episode in particular either.
