Actually that's complete bullshit, and I just relistened to the entire thing in case I missed anything you said, he ended the call after the police dispatcher told him where to meet police, he was on the phone while initially following zimmerman and stopped once the police dispatcher told him they didn't need him to do that, you might want to actually listen to the thing.

That woman left her house and got the gun from her car, the reason she was sentenced is because she wasn't in immediate or life threatening danger if she had the ability to walk out of the fucking house. Where zimmerman was getting his head smashed into the sidewalk.

Not only did she have the ability to leave the house, apparently she also had access to the car and could have (should have) left in it at any point. it just sounds like an angry ex wife getting into an argument, marching outside to get a gun, and coming back to instigate some more ;/

So we're going to sentence people to prison or death based on completely ambiguous evidence? There was no concrete evidence that showed zimmerman was the aggressor, where on the other hand there were witnesses to martin on top of zimmerman beating his face in.

Why would he even bother to call the cops if he just wanted to rush in and shoot the guy? That makes no fucking sense at all, him calling the cops caused more trouble than if he hadn't.

That was one of the first exhibits the defense gave was the manuscript of his 911 call.

He essentially told them to get me some back up because im gonna get this guy, and they told him to stop and let the police handle it peacefully. He got pissed, and hung up the phone.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A COP TO WATCH OUT FOR SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY IN A NEIGHBORHOOD.

He had every right to follow martin, he didn't detain him, just followed, he didn't need any special authority to do that. And really? Stand your ground laws are bullshit? If your life is being threatened and you shoot someone you should go to jail? THAT'S bullshit.

So because one guy attempted to abuse the law that makes the entire thing bullshit? I've got some news for you, EVERY SINGLE LAW is abused to fuck and you're going to complain about ONE GUY when countless other people have used it to keep from going to jail after shooting some asshole who attempted to kill/maim them?
#172 - bswanson (07/16/2013) [-]
No, the entire law isnt a bad idea, its that it is so easily circumvented. Within the same week, a woman in Florida was sentenced to 20 years because she fired a gun in to the air to scare away her abusive husband who was beating her. She used the Stand Your Ground defense

So apparantly firing a warning shot isnt good enough. If you want to be protected by the law, shit your pants and shoot to kill.

We can't completely know for sure, but putting a man away for the rest of his life on something that might or might not have happened is wrong.

Killing a teenager and ending his life on something that might or might not have happened is just as wrong.

That's where I call BS on the "He jumped me" thing. He called the cops and told them there was a suspicious kid walking around, and when they told him to cool his jets, he charged in and got in a fight.

Martin was walking in people's yards looking in windows, there had been a string of break-ins in the neighborhood and he would've been fucking retarded not to think martin was somewhat suspicious, that's not inciting a fight, that's investigating suspicious activity.
#160 - bswanson (07/16/2013) [-]
And is this according to Zimmerman? Really the problem is that this case would have turned in to a he said she said kind of thing, except he killed the opposition

Zimmerman wasn't stalking the kid, he saw him from a truck.

Zimmerman called the cops, they said not to follow so he requested a standby and waiting by a marker (sign) until they arrived.

Martin was on the phone saying "dis cracka followin me, ima fuck him up" or some crazy bullshit.

Martin hits zimmerman FROM BEHIND and start bashing his head in to the concrete.

Don't throw a god damn thing away form martin's past, a violent record is a violent record. If I had a record of gang violence, drug use, illegal activity, etc. then my intentions would also be represented by previous actions, and not the ones of a law abiding citizen.

Not only that, but he wasn't following martin gun drawn. He didn't draw his gun until he needed it. Not only that, but treyvon martin was barely a minor. He was 17, and easily looked 18-20. He wasn't some middle school 11 year old, he was practically a grown man.

Jesus fucking christ, I'm typing with one hand so that's why there are so many mistakes. Anyway, Treyvon could have just as easily went straight home and not gotten shot.

You're telling me in the middle of the night, while pouring rain, with his hood up zimmerman would've been able to tell martin was black? Are you fucking kidding me?

Zimmerman was doing his job following someone who he had never seen in the neighborhood walk up and stare into windows, then freaks out and starts smashing zimmermans head into the pavement. Martin was being suspicious, whether you like it or not, Zimmerman had every right to investigate.
#163 - bswanson (07/16/2013) [-]
BUT IT ISNT HIS JOB. HE'S NOT A COP, HE'S SOME DOUCHEBAG WITH A GUN WHO SAYS HE'S THE WATCHMAN.

Yes, of course he couldnt tell he was black, but he has as much authority as fucking vince vaughn. This isn't a race thing, its a "Stand your ground law is Bull Shit" thing.

Couple months ago there was a 20/20 on some guy in Texas, who also claimed he was the neighborhood watch, who openly told his neighbors that you can kill whoever you want if you say that you fear for your life.

So of course he video tapes himself saying "Im in fear of my life," Then walks over to a party his neighbors were having and shot 3 of them. Thats the kind of bullshit this law is
