Hitler applied for an art college, but the professor (majority of the professors in general were Jewish) recommended that he instead get into an education for architecture instead of simply art. He didn't have the money to do so, so he was forced into homelessness which then transpired into military service which then lead to him being jailed, where he wrote "Mein Kampf".
