Hispanic is an ethnicity, while white is a race. Hispanic indicates Spanish and usually Native American ancestry. It is therefore possible to be white Hispanic, or black Hispanic. However, many Hispanics including Zimmerman identify exclusively as Latino rather than white.

Also in general, people who are only part-white rarely identify as white. Just look at Obama or any half-Asian person.

Don't you mean guilty until proven innocent...what it should say at least
#23 - taxideataxus (07/15/2013) [-]
If you have issues with the basic fundamental principles of the US Justice System I bet you spend a great deal of time thoroughly frustrated.
And even IF it was the other way around, and George Zimmerman was guilty until proven innocent, the prosecutors did a shit job prosecuting him so he likely would still be walking free today anyway.
User avatar #24 - vacillantfall (07/15/2013) [-]
I'm glad he was let go innocent, I rooted for that, but I'm trying to say that the way it always seems is you're guilty until otherwise proven... which is stupid... For example, Aaron Hernandez, convicted of murder and he's in jail but it hasn't been proven yet... therefore guilty(him being jailed) until they can prove it was or wasn't him which would show whether he's innocent or not... The judicial system lies RIGHT to your face about itself... Everyone is guilty until said otherwise but people have the false conception it's innocent until guilty...
#27 - CIS White Male (07/15/2013) [-]
Being held in jail is not a punishment--it's just where they keep you until your court date because it's convenient for them. You can get out and roam free if you so choose. That's what bailing out is.

Prison is where you go to serve a sentence when you're proven guilty.

So while I get what you're saying, it's still not exactly right. The idea of going to jail is more of a way for the govt to make money off of you rather than hold you "guilty until proven innocent". Still fucked up, though.
User avatar #26 - taxideataxus (07/15/2013) [-]
If the system was done the way you suggest there would be MANY more false convictions.
For all we know Aaron Hernandez is actually innocent, although it doesn't look that way. But if we label everyone guilty and force the defense to prove them innocent too many people would approach cases with preconceived notions and wouldn't be as open minded about evidence that the defense presents.
User avatar #58 - vacillantfall (07/16/2013) [-]
I'm not saying we look at everyone guilty, I'm saying that's basically how the gov't treats it despite labeling it as innocent til guilty.... I hope it makes sense, down thumbing me isn't nice though only trying to share my views.
#59 - CIS White Male (07/16/2013) [-]

GEORGE ZIMMERMAN CLAIMED THAT HE WAS PINNED DOWN WHEN HE MADE THE SHOT.

THE ONLY WAY FOR HIM TO HAVE GRABBED HIS GUN, AND MADE THE SHOT WOULD BE FOR HIM TO BE IN CONTROL OF THE SITUATION.

IF HE WAS IN CONTROL OF THE SITUATION HE COULD'VE JUST SCARED TRAYVON AWAY WITH THE GUN, AND HE DID NOT HAVE TO SHOOT HIM.

IT IS NOT SELF DEFENSE IF HE IS HOLDING HIM AT GUN POINT.

I believe that he murdered that boy. I believe that there was not enough evidence to convict him. He got away because everyone in this country is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, which is good. I realize that this trial was not American Idol. My vote doesn't chime in to make a difference.

If Trayvon had him pinned down, as he claimed, Zimmerman would have to gain control before he would be able to grab his gun. If he had control, he wouldn't have had to shoot him. He could've apprehended him. It's no longer self defense when you're pointing a gun at someone threatening to end their life.

The chances that he fired a killing shot while pinned down are VERY... -VERY- circumstantial. And highly unlikely on top of that.
