1 John 2:19 says, "They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, in order that it might be shown that they all are not of us." If someone leaves the faith it is because they never were saved. We endure because we ARE saved...we don't become or stay saved by our works.

So slight revision on what I said. If you reject christ later, you were never saved to begin with.

"But they were not really of us". They didn't have a genuine love for Christ
#67 - If you've already accepted Christ, and reject him later, you do.  [+] (7 replies) 03/17/2012 on Flawless Logic 0

Repentance does not make you sinless, it only makes you sin less. You begin to turn away from the sin, but the ability to overcome the human condition and stop completely is not available in this life.

Repentance makes you forgiven.

I know it doesn't make you sinless, but it does give you a relationship with Christ that cannot be broken, even if you turn away from him.
