the cost of keeping them alive is the price we pay for being better human beings than them. lol 120 innocent people being killed by the justice system isn't "impressive" its fucking atrocious no one should be killed by the system that is supposed to protect them. also your last sentence would you then kill yourself for killing someone? fucking great logic.

They're murderers now. That's kinda my mantra: kill wrongdoers. Duh retard.

Look if we were just going to keep them alive because we were unsure about their guilt then why punish them in the first place? You're ok with keeping them imprisoned if they're possibly innocent? That's inconsistent.
"Well, you've been found guilty of murder. I'm not reeealy sure you did it though, so instead of death, I'll put you in for life sentence just to be safe. Otherwise I'd feel bad."
I'd rather be as sure as possible, then either hit them with maximum efficient punishment, or let them go completely.

By your logic we should just let them all go, just to save the 4% of innocents.

The US has around 3000 inmates on death row. If the %4 holds true then around 120 people that did not commit the crime they are accused of are likely to be killed. If you or family member/friend were one of those 120 people would that be ok with you because that number is "pretty fucking low"?
User avatar #324 - bothemastaofall (11/21/2014) [-]
96% accuracy. That's pretty impressive. Also 3000 seems low for how many murders are committed here.
W/e. I just think of the literal billions spent on housing people with life sentences and think "Man that would be sweet to reallocate to space travel. Then we could leave Earth faster. Maybe we could give it to college students and make low-cost education viable."
4% is a very small price to pay, and 120 people is not very many people. If any of my friends or family were ever murdered someone, I would kill them faster than the gov't.

Most studies how that about %4 of inmates on death row are innocent.

That's not exactly rare.

There are people that get exonerated because of DNA evidence, even after they "admit" to a crime. Can't exonerate someone that you killed who was actually innocent.
User avatar #257 - bothemastaofall (11/21/2014) [-]
I said 100%. That means video, pictures, dna, admission, whole 9 yards.

I'm not stupid. I know about those cases. They are very rare, but happen mostly because they took shit advice from their attorney. "Admit to it because you're black." I've heard that one before.

There was also another case where a man was convicted of a rape because of his DNA being found in the vajayjay. Even though he had 11 eye witnesses putting him at a bar at that time, he was still convicted. Turns out the vaginal and seminal dna was not properly seperated in the lab. The result weirdly matched this poor bloke. That one's not pure black and white though cause c'mon. 11 witnesses man.

There are cases where you know who did it hands down though. They are never exonerated.
