Either could work. Maybe both. Some comps are centered on a plane, some on a creature type. Ultimately it's up to what you want to do, but Planes is arguably easier to look up and it makes it easier to have some thematic cohesion in the comp you post. Consider Goblins in MtG lore. Most planes have them, but they're all really different. Some of them I wouldn't even know were Goblins if not told.

Personally I would do Planes, but again, it comes down to whatever you want.
