As far as race im thinking straight up human. as evidenced by the fact that humans are far more likely to have half breeds it may be that a human would be far more likely to avoid rejection to foreign body parts. A halfbreed would also be a likely suggestion.

well, not when you consider he is using everyone as test subjects for his concoctions. like he shoots his enemies form afar and notes their reactions in a note book. or he gives his allies experimental 'mutagens', and the like. thats almost exactly like a mad scientist!

Alright, he is mad scientist and a Frankenstein. So that makes him chaotic with either evil or neutral.
As far as classes go he is (probably) monstrously big and strong. Throw rouge and ranger out, also cleric and paladin as he does not sound as a very pious guy. You could either go for berserker type warrior/barbarian. Other option is magic. As he is a smart guy he would easily be a mage of sort or possibly necromancer(very fitting)
Race, elf and dwarf is impossible, they are to honourable to be like that. Ork is possible, but he must be a smart ork. I say a village of mixed orks and humans and make yourself a half ork to have some brains and not be simply human.

His chest is some weird purple humanoid thing
His head is human with a dwarf jaw. Giving him a nice think beard. Also one bloated eye
His left leg is that of a lizardman.
His right leg is a deer one.

i was thinking changeling, but changelings can only be female (temporary idea for his mother/hag experimenting on her young, and making the first 'male' changeling, which is a petite feminine like man, which in many eyes is an abomination) but i thought it would complicate things hugely.

My recommendation is to ask the GM if he would accept frankenstein as a race. Better if you make some race traits from him aswell(poison imunity, fear of fire etc etc) If that does not work try to ask the GM if you can be a male changeling. If that does not work how about golem?

we did agree on a possible male changeling (GM is a close friend, our group is close friends) but as i said, im afraid this might complicate things. but please, by all means, help me out so i can have frankenstein as a fair idea before my final decision, like race strengths and weaknesses. plus, i dont know of golems.

Poison resistance, he is a biological patchwork and poison will have a hard time.
Fear of fire. When near large groups of fire or a lot of torches you must make a will save or either flee or berserk or any deeply negative effect(villagers with torches scare him) Also fire weakness
Huge charisma- when not cloaked
-Sneak/dex(he is not a big person but he is not fully used to all his different limbs)
Natural weapon. Depending on his limbs.(claws, tail)
Natural armor(scales perhaps)
Slow move speed in combat(again different limbs)
a few ideas on top of my head. Surely there must be more
Also considering you know the GM a lot, i have few doubts he decline your character race unless he declines your entire character.

this class does sound awesome. minor regen sounds iffy, maybe a thing were he has to replace body parts often or they decompose quickly, which then could make the regen make a bit more sense (like a robot replacing rusty parts) the fire weakness is a very sensible suggestion, as is slow move speed. huge charisma gain or loss?

Minus. No questioning this. He is a freak of nature after all.
Good idea with the limbs but only if it can be added in a sensible way. Getting new libs each month ingame will be annoying quickly. And running out of limbs in dungeon will not be fun.
Also another minus. Custom fitting armor. Cost some extra cash and some blacksmiths might decline at first.
Also, what if healing spells did hurt him?

well, we are thinking of too many downsides, and no benefits, but its because a frankenstein like class isnt easy to come by. possibly bieng heavy handed bieng as the parts are technically dead, and the decomposing body parts will be annoying true. custom fitting armor is also a meh, but it does make sense.

Heh, here i was trying to make enough downsides and not just plusses and forgot to add the plus.
also recommend not having more than a few(less than five) special rules and the same amount of stat modifiers. Otherwise your DM might be scared of the prospect.

But also consider one thing. This character is OP from the start.
You are smart and big. You got a minion as a PC and god knows how many times you can have use of different body parts. Perhaps you even get the racial traits of the parts.

possibly OP, but i can have it were the body parts ARE dead, so they cant really have racial traits (scales go soft or something, so no armor, claws dull, ect.) and he is his own person, he just chose to combine his lore with mine. i guess we can have an improved relationship from the get go, but not much else.

ive had a little talk with the DM and weve come to a conclusion:
1. limb fragility (if the enemy crits a body part, i have to roll to save it falling off. the debuff for failing depends on the limb)
2. fear and weakness to fire (i have to roll to save will from fire bigger than campfires. failing to save will will result in d4 roll to either run away or berserk)
3. minor health regen (downward to it, is halved healing from other sources)
4. lightning buff (any sort of lightning magic, natural, the like ) will damage me for less, AND i get a +1 to any rolls for that turn

another thing is i wasnt planning on him bieng a physical attacker, otherwise i would make him a bit like dr mundo from LOL. i want him to be lean, and tall. lore wise, hes a mix of races, bieng as he took body parts to experiment on himself. originally, i was thinking sorcerer with aberrant blood, as this mix of blood and body parts can fuck you up somewhat. but officially, i do obviously need a race.

Maybe you should described his bodytype more because I was imaging Frankenstein but smart. But in that case what about like an alchemist crossbowey kind of character so you could find herbs and make like a sleeping bolt or exploding bolt etc. Allowing you to do a type of magic damage while also debuffing enemy's. you could also use it like the tf2 medic crossbow to heal teammates from a distance.

i was in the middle of typing it when this message came up. i like the idea very much. a ranged variable (healer/effect dealer/ somewhat damage dealer). and it fits with the fact he can 'study' his enemies from afar, and note his concoctions effects without being in any real danger, which is a genius tactic

Sorry no idea what would work well But you should probably put stuff in agility(to move around quickly) Dexterity/whatever makes crossbows do more damage and at least a bit in strength (you do have body parts of various races also your using a crossbow) and what ever else you want.

Wait- D&D 1.0 is a bit difficult to jump into, especially if you're used to more modern RPG mechanics. It's probably not my place, but 3.5 or 4.0 are both good versions to start with. Pathfinder is good too, it's basically D&D 3.75.
If you do play 1.0, your class options are more limited. Based on the character description, I'd suggest Illusionist.

Pathfinder is basically an upgrade to D&D 3.5. It's, in my opinion, one of the best versions of the game. For your character, the Magus is a class that's sort of a reclusive scholar. Alchemist would also be relevant, as both classes are sciencey types. Same with the Wizard. If you decide to go for a prestige class, the Loremaster may be viable. And remember, you can multiclass. As for races, Half-Orcs are typically reclusive (or at least keep company of others like them). Elves fit the studiousness you described, and Humans can basically fit whatever role.

other people in this thread have helped me have some ideas. the best i think being a crossbow toting alchemist. and the race could possibly be a male changeling (he messes around with himself, why not?), a frankenstein like creature (fear of fire, poison immunity if the GM allows it , the lark), or golem (which i dont know anything about honestly) and even then, i still need to figure out where my stats can go (which i posted below our conversation)
