Fire Emblem 3
I don't know if I would say it's a good starting point just because it's so radically different in terms of gameplay, plus summoning characters that I already know from the titles I've played is way more exciting than summoning the ones I have never seen before. I would however say that Heroes is totally rad and I'm really liking it

so i got in to BDO
well im enjoying it just cause it feels like a more competent Dragon Age Inquisition
not that inquisition was bad but it couldve been more
<You have obviously missed the entire point of Bdo by trying to experience it like a typical mmo.
The other reply to your comment summarizes it fairly well, your comment is mostly based in lack of time spent in the game and ignorance of it's mechanics
People not understanding what the game is about and treating is as just annother mmo, which when it doesnt meet their required criteria for the bland mmo they were expecting, treat it as bad
This is why we cant have nice things
but i dont blame you, most people dont give games that much thought which is a shame, cause it leads to missunderstandings
> I went with a Tamer, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get completly rid of that whole 'asian' look she had.
As far as I know Tamer is the least customize-able. I've gone with Asian inspired and non-Asian inspired appearances for at least 5 of the other classes
> The story telling is also bad, in my opinion. Your character has amnesia, so the story is built around it, but I always feel like I'm missing a few pieces to the puzzle
BDO doesn't force anything on you. It's like Dark Souls. I can go through a whole DS game without picking up a shred of the lore. Doesn't mean it isn't there. I can attest to that cause I've beaten 1, 2, and 3 and I haven't a shred of an idea about the backstory beside you're an undead that somehow came back to life and you need to kill some shit. Yet I know there is a hell of a lot of lore behind it.
> big mobs where it took me 3-4 minutes to kill even ONE of them
That's all gear, level, and skill dependent. You're probably referencing the named mobs like "Violent" or "Energetic" versions of the base ones. Depending on how far you got and if you understood the underlying battle/gearing mechanics these results will vary. I shredded through these things in usually 10-20 seconds. IE.) Does your class need accuracy? Whats the level difference with the monster? What enhancement level is your gear? Do you have food/potion buffs? Are you using the appropriate skills? What skill-addons? etc.
The thing i'll give you is that the game is absolutely enormous, and they give you an encyclopedia to learn how to play it. Most people just throw that out. It took me months to get a grasp on all the mechanics cause they do a real shit job of explaining how it all works:
Like when people realized all character stats are randomly generated, meaning two players of the same class can have completely different stats at the same level, some of those stats are hidden at that so you have no idea what your characters stats are. Until the developers stated that every character gets the same amount of stats, they're just assigned differently, people were freaking out. We still don't know for certain how Node Energy investment affects drops from both trash and world bosses and until recently we had no idea if it affected gathering nodes until a dev spoke out that it didn't once again. Up until BDO (strictly speaking, IN MY OPINION) I innately understood most MMO's cause they all pulled many aspects from WoW and just added a twist. BDO is the first game I've played that's practically new from every aspect.
Yet again, this is all just my opinion.
