The Flavians needed a claim to divinity, much like the Caesars had before them, so Josephus , a jew who had turned traitor during the roman military campaign through the holy land, tuned Titus Flavius' into "Jesus" to fit in with the recent rounds of jewish messianic preachers at the time, and turned his war into Jesus' ministry, backdated the story 30 years, and used it as proof that Titus'(jesus) father was a god so they could claim a divine right to the roman throne.

Faulty science is the cause of much destruction in the world among us as human, we let our creativity reach so far out, that we reach false conclusions and create the basis of a lie thats meant to last for eternity.

Examples include, weapons of mass destruction, false theories like evolution, and immoral testing on harmless creatures of this world.

i'm here to promote love to all and not try and scientifically disprove God when we should be trying to prove Gods existence. Ask yourself why do they put so much effort into a question that is nearly impossible to answer? Who created us? The answer is not scientific, the answer is with God and we'll figure the rest out when we die.

This is not to say that the bible is completely made up and false, nor is this intended as a diatribe against religious belief. I am myself an atheist, but I see no problem with belief, nor do I think that the bible is complete fiction. What it IS is an abstracted religious text, and one which, at the time of its composition, was not intended to be taken as an actual historical document. Moreover, it was written down long after the stories within it had been composed, and, whilst oral histories can be spectacularly accurate, the ones in the bible, especially the Old Testament, do not appear to have been intended to be absolute historical records, but rather didactic and ritual tales.

There ares some interesting things to come out of the bible, although some of these are pretty contentious, and they can be pretty thought provoking. For example, the biblical tale of the king Saul COULD, and I repeat, COULD be found in some letters from around 1400BC, in which a diplomatic letter from a vassal king, I think, refers to a rebel in what was to become Judea as LA-BA-YU, which is the semitic word for "Lion." Saul was frequently referred to as a "lion", and is described as fighting guerrilla campaign in Judea against a greater power - so far, so plausible. However, "lion" was a common epithet for rulers at this period, and FUCKING EVERYONE was CONSTANTLY kicking off in Judea during this period, since they were generally a pretty fractious bunch. Therefore, Saul could actually be a composite of half remembered heroes from a long tradition of "lion kings" and therefore not actually be a single historical character.

Be aware of timescales too - the Old Testament bible was written down, if memory serves, sometime around the 6th to the 1st Century BC, which is between 1000 and 1500 years after these events - imagine taking a modern rewriting of the King Arthur legend as historical fact, and you see why the bible is such a shaky resource.

I hope this helps. Have a nice day!

Hiya,
Sorry to be a dick, but every single one of those "findings" is based on monumentally shaky grounds. Ron Wyatt, the progenitor of the vast amount of these findings, is widely critiqued for being something not far off an out and out fraud, using spectacularly inept and even made up techniques to justify his "findings". No other academic has supported or validated his claims, and they are based on the sketchiest possible understanding of Near Eastern Bronze and Iron age archaeology.

A lot of the arguments created for this kind of stuff are simply bad archaeology - frequently, they will find something which could be explained in HUNDREDS of ways, and, simply because there is a vague similarity to a biblical passage, they conclude that it is absolute truth. To posit a hypothetical example, let us say that I am religious, and that my religious text says that when the creator god created the world, he implanted coins into the earth, and these have the power to encourage belief. Whenever a coin is found and removed from an archaeological dig, I COULD say that it was one of these mythical coins. And bonus time; Worldwide faith is dropping - It must be because these coins are being removed!!! Whilst this theory would make sense within my own belief system, I am attributing the presence of the coins to something in fact rather arbitrary and impossible to prove; there could be hundreds of other reasons for those coins being present, many of which can be demonstrated to be far more likely, and in fact which have a far greater body of evidence supporting them to be the correct reason for the coins presence, such as that someone buried the coins because they were stolen and running from the guards yada yada and so on. Just because you cannot initially explain something, it doesn't mean that you can immediately attribute it to something external and largely contingent upon a very specific world view.

Who's to say that the cause of chariots being underwater was a man who defied physics with a staff? It's all a guessing game when it comes to the past. I'm not here to argue a truth. I'm here to argue what makes sense.

Christians are not catholics no matter how much they say they want to be. They will most likely be the ones to bring forth Satans coming. The lord says "just becaus someone says lord lord, have we not cast out demons in your name and prayed in your name? and christ will say, I knew you not now go your way" in other words...you test those of faith most are not truly doing Gods work and you judge them based on that.

it was still people killing people. That's why the argument is valid.

Yeshua bar Yoseph(Jesus) is a fraud compiled from at least a dozen other mythological figures from around the region for the thousand years preceding the fall of Rome at the time of Nero. The Flavians needed a claim to divinity, much like the Caesars had before them, so Josephus , a jew who had turned traitor during the roman military campaign through the holy land, tuned Titus Flavius' into "Jesus" to fit in with the recent rounds of jewish messianic preachers at the time, and turned his war into Jesus' ministry, backdated the story 30 years, and used it as proof that Titus'(jesus) father was a god so they could claim a divine right to the roman throne.

indeed. I've been a funnyjunkie for quite some time now. I'm just starting to make contributions, though. I've been taking from this community for years, now i'm finally giving something back.
