"You" make control in terms of competing Genocide, but there are a lot of things out of your control. The way you talk, the instant reactions to people, the reference to all stuff you didn't really have part in...

Despite the claims otherwise, Chara is more than just a representation of "you" as a player. They are the "First human" and exist beyond our control as a player. Also, if it was strictly a "player choice" thing and "Chara" is us all the way through, then a soulless run wouldn't exist in the first place. Game-play wise, I believe Chara is merely a negative effect, beyond the 'feels', of playing like that.

Story wise, however, Chara is an influence on Frisk that happens once they begin to fight things either out of fear or anger. It's implied that Chara is there the moment they drop down, putting the remaining essence into Frisk's soul to potentially influence them. It's beyond just being a "player" in the story after you make your first kill, and especially after the Sans fight... But it's implied the entire time you're in a Genocide run that Frisk has stopped being 'human' and become a true monster.

Game-play wise, yes, you do make most of the choices yourself. You always have the choice to restart or just turn it into a neutral run by sparring someone. But that doesn't mean Chara doesn't exist in the story, or in the game itself.

Chara is as much of a character in the game as Frisk is.

I dunno if that was the point of it. I think it was more of a way to "punish" people who just reset after killing everyone.

Here's a chart to make it more clear. It's not a degree of "anthro", it's 90% human.

Also, no, "furryism" does not cover anything that isn't strictly human. It covers animals, anthros, and the like. But typically only things with fur.

On the other hand, things like human-like slimes are not part of that because 1) they're not animals, 2) they don't have fur, and 3) they're technically not an anthro. They fall more into the "monster" category which is usually human + monster attributes, but not anthros.

Sort of like that monster anime that came up recently. Despite them being 50% human 50% "monster', that technically is still not in the "Furry" catigory. They're a separate fetish entirely.
