Hey there. I'm just your regular guy, playing games and using any spell used against me. I run a Youtube channel at Youtube.com/BlueMagicReviews but I have stopped uploading to it due to technical difficulties. Need a better video editor, you know? Anyways! Thanks for stopping by, but I'm confused why you're here. I don't even post content on this site.

I personally enjoyed some moments like Yamada making sure everyone is happy, the first memory wipe where Yamada was basically forgotten by everyone and i felt incredibly bad for Yamada. It was a very difficult situation that he tried to bear at first.

Some of the powers are incredibly basic as they are though. So they don't require a lot of experimentation to figure out. They don't seem to have a lot of drawbacks either, since they're given to troubled people. The powers are supposed to solve their problems, not create more. Yamada did spend about a day in Shiraishi's body at one point and it had no effects on either of them.

I never thought his strength was a central point of his character though. Rather than trying to bruteforce all of his problems, he's a lot more careful in solving his problems at this point.

I think the major issue is that in the "first season" the Council President at that point made a very good antagonist to them and they had a clear objective. The second season doesn't really have an antagonist anymore. The genius isn't really an antagonist since the chess club was dissolved.

I was okay with him making people happy, but it's usually just... too much drama, I guess?

I did feel bad for him too, but the entire memory wipe thing kind of goes over my head a bit. Their memories are more-so edited than erased, and that could cause a lot of holes if you really thought about it, like Shirashi's first meeting or people swapping with "Yamada" being replaced with someone else, like Shirashi who refuses to kiss anyone but Yamada in the first place. But who else would they kiss to swap bodies if Yamada wasn't "there?"

I don't really get why the Seventh Witch has to erase memories anyways, to be honest. Yes, if they were bad, that'd be alright, but it seems to just cause more trouble than fix anything, especially in Yamada's case since he can't be affected by it.

What I meant for experimentation was more so what they could /do with them/, not how they work. Like, could they swap with an adult? Charm a shop keeper? Do the powers even work correctly outside the school? But I mostly meant personality experimentation.

Yamada also doesn't /try/ to do anything girly as well when he's in Shirashi. I mean, I wasn't expecting him to become a cross-dresser or anything, but I at least expected at least one or two chapters of the two going on a date in swapped bodies while dressed up to accommodate themselves. Like Yamashi, heh, in a dress and Shirada in a fancy suit. But nothing like that happens.

The beginning, like in the post, has him come off as an actual trouble maker. A brute. While that character does fall off to reveal his true feelings after he swaps with Shirashi, there was still heavy implication that he was a strong person. That he knew how to fight, too, due to all his past fights and the way he handles people even in someone else's body. But that just disappears, y'know? He just gets manhandled the rest of the time.

I do think he made a good antagonist and that this "new" season is kind of empty of any real reason for them to fight each other... But the first one didn't really have much reason to fight against them either. I don't even recall the reasons behind him bothering with them, excluding the 'running for president' thing.

But another issue was there now being /two sets/ of witch powers that are completely different because of Yamada's wish or whatever. Not only that, but it pushed Shirashi to the side like I said and the entire story up until that point was focused a lot on Yamada/Shirashi interacting and planning together.

Not to mention swapping bodies, which they've only done once since then which felt like another minor plot hole with the witch that has the body swapping power having the /exact same power/ Shirashi had. All the others were different, after all, but that one is just coincidentally the same. But having those two interact without swapping bodies now and then just feels... a little empty. It was kind of part of their charm together, even if they compliment each other well regardless.

Another big issue with the story overall is the lack of adults doing... anything. You'd think they'd notice some stuff, especially when it comes to what the President does. I mean, does the principal have no influence on the President's choices at all? It's weird.
#15 - kinginthenorth (01/03/2016) [-]
The memory wipe replaced it either with another person or just left it empty. I think Miyamura filled in Yamada's part in most of the memories that got "erased". Shiraishi felt like she was in love with someone, but she couldn't say who. The feeling was there, but any connection to Yamada disappeared.

The Seventh witch power is indeed weird, but they do serve as a control for the witches.

Well they figured that you could swap with anyone if you kissed them. So they probably assumed it extended to adults aswell. Alhough i do believe the powers work outside of the school. Shiraishi and Yamada could swap just fine outside of the school.

I doubt Yamada is / was interested in being a girl. Shiraishi might've been for the sake of experiencing it, but i doubt it'd be mutual.

I think it was more about him being late constantly and generally underperforming. Which is natural, seeing as he didn't want to go to the school at all anymore. He was alone and had a reputation as a delinquent. So not a lot of reasons to try hard for school.

They were trying to find all the witches and figuring out all the witch powers. The Council President gets told at the start of his term to keep the Witch powers a secret by means of the 7th witch. He was just following President tradition and trying to keep the witch powers hidden, to prevent chaos.

Yeah, the small amount of Shiraishi bothered me. But the story wasn't entirely Shiraishi / Yamada, since the interactions with the club were also a huge part of it. The second set of witch powers aren't exactly completely different though. On the base line they can be described as the same, but their effects are different. It's still Telepathy, except constantly now. It's still Charm, except mandatory and immediate. There's not a lot of variations on "Body Swapping".

Now where's the fun in having adults meddle with it all? The only adults we see are the parents of the students. Except Shiraishi's. We haven't seen anything of Shiraishi's family, besides the fact that they're constantly working.

To Love Ru, the old one at least I haven't seen darkness, has brief bits where the MC becomes a girl... But it doesn't stick around very long.

Then there's Yamada and the 7 Witches, but they never really experiment with it past some perversion at the start...

Then there's Girl Meets Girl... but the plot behind the anime/manga differs and it's kind of weird.

Nothing else really comes to mind, and none of those really compare to Ranma, sadly.

The rest are always cross dressing.

If you haven't been reading the manga, then just keep watching the anime. It'll come up.

Specifically in the fight against Dofla in an episode or two.
User avatar
#15 - VincentKing (01/03/2016) [-]
I... should probably start watching it then. Since starting work, I haven't been able to watch many shows (I can secretly watch shows on my second monitor at work, however subtitles become way to distracting)
#17 - bluemagebrilly (01/03/2016) [-]
I don't have any advice for that, really.

Perhaps start reading the manga instead, since you can read whenever you have some brief period of time instead of having to constantly watch the moving subtitles.

The dub is also a choice, though avoid 4kids if you watch that early in the show, and while you lose some of the quality, you don't have to read.

I will most likely catch up in the anime with the english dub while at work, and may have to watch 3-4 episodes each night of the sub. I should catch up in a couple months.

Plus I got the spoilers from the trailers of the games, mainly by seeing a character and saying "Didnt they die? Lets see what the internet says about them..."

The only other thing I dont understand is why Luffy gets sort of fire punches as well
#21 - bluemagebrilly (01/03/2016) [-]
Fire Punches are, according to comments I've read, rapid friction causing his rubber skin to set itself on fire. Not sure how accurate that is, but... I dunno. It's something like that, at least.

I guess that makes sense, but it still seems like an odd thing for them to add in. It was as if the creator was sitting there thinking to himself, "Now that Ace is dead, theres less fire... Lets give it to Luffy, say its possible because Ace is dead... makes sense, right?"
#23 - bluemagebrilly (01/03/2016) [-]
It's a homage to Ace, according to Luffy, that he invented during the time skip. It's not the craziest thing he's done, I mean... Gear 3 is him expanding his bones, after all.

The guy announced that the first runner up to Miss Universe, or whatever, was the winner. Under the "First runner up" part, it says "Miss Universe is: namehere" and he messed up, basically, by saying the First runner up was the winner overall. It was embarrassing because they already put the crown on her... Had to take it off and everything apparently, and the guy apologized a lot for it.
#13 - anon (01/03/2016) [-]
It's also worth noting the card had "2nd runner up" and "1st runner up" more centered, to the left, and, on the bottom right, the winner's name written in tiny letters under the big, bold "MISS UNIVERSE 2015".

When I saw the card I had to look for the "Philippines" because seriously who the fuck announces third and second places as "2nd runner up" and "1st runner up". I only knew Colombia was not the winner because of the internet fuss, I would have made the same mistake he did.

How much pics do you even have of her?
#34 to #33 - bluemagebrilly ONLINE (12/24/2014) [-]
Not that many, just a couple. I could have more but I haven't bothered making more reaction pictures. More or less waiting for the color version.
User avatar #36 to #34 - thenobodyorigin ONLINE (12/24/2014) [-]
I hope that happens soon.

I personally enjoyed the comic quite a lot.

I've got the whole thing ready to be cut up if I can ever stop being lazy. The dark elf in the last part of the comic has some good ones too.

But I'm lazy.

Join the club my friend.

But how are you doing this day?
#39 to #38 - bluemagebrilly ONLINE (12/24/2014) [-]
Fine, thank you for asking.

And how are you?
User avatar #40 to #39 - thenobodyorigin ONLINE (12/24/2014) [-]
Neutral. Could be better could be worse.

Busy with being lazy.
User avatar #27 - killboy (12/14/2014) [-]
You use that elf image too often.
